My cousin, Katie, is getting married next month! Unfortunately, since the wedding is in Wisconsin (I’m in San Diego) I can’t be there, but I will attend in spirit! Katie asked me if I would make her wedding favors. Knowing how significant every decision in wedding planning is, I am so flattered and honored!
When we spoke about what she would like, she just said, “I’m pretty flexible as long as it is fall-ish. Just like a leaf shape or something.” Great! I love design projects, so I started thinking.
First, I looked at her invitation. It has gorgeous, traditional autumn colors. Incorporating them with a leaf shape would be fun. Plus I have a great fragrance on hand I’ve been dying to use.
One thing I asked her was, “how many guests?” She has 175! Wow. So this would have to be an efficient process, too. No 4 cavity mold action for this project!
To incorporate the colors, I decided to use a few of the metallic micas from Brambleberry. The gold, copper, and cappucino would be perfect. I’ll use them to make a marbled sheet that I’ll cut with mini cookie cutters into leaves and acorns. Finally, I’ll scent them with Candied Apple fragrance and put 2 soaps into little organza bag for each guest (that will be 350 soaps! Gulp!).
I ran it by Katie, and she liked it!
Next – gather supplies and find trays that are large, flexible, and totally flat. Tune in next Thursday to see how I will make them! See you then!

Hello, this is exactly what I am looking for! I will get married – simple backyard wedding – but i would like to have a simple crisp and fresh soap thanks you’s. I have NEVER tried to do this, EVER, and I would love to start with my wedding! This is the best way to show this interest i have with candles/soaps… since they thought i am only rock and booze.. 🙂
Thank you so much.
Hi Jo!
Have you had a chance to see the final project? Here is a link to wedding favor soaps (they turned out so pretty!):

Actually, here’s the link: http://www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/melt-and-pour-soap/tutorial-katies-wedding-soap-favors-step-3-make-and-bag-2/
Both projects are very pretty, though! 🙂
Whoops! Thanks Debbie, I must have been looking at the wrong project. 🙂

I made darling wedding soap favors for my niece’s wedding earlier this year. I used BB Berry Wine fragrance and merlot mica to make hundreds of little heart soaps in flexible heart shaped ice cube trays. I found cute burgundy organza bags for next to nothing online and the bride was pleased as punch!
The leaves sound like they’ll be perfect…

Oooh! That looks like fun. I can’t wait. I love fall stuff.
Debbie,
Where in Wisconsin? Let me know if I can be of any help. I still have that texture tool to ship to you. When you come up for air email me (at [email protected]) your address and I’ll ship it right off!
MWAH!

Hehe, that’s almost exactly what I was going to do for my own wedding! We ended up not doing what we planned (but still got married – long story) so we didn’t have or need favors … but I bought a leaf shaped mold (I think it was a chocolate mold, actually) for it instead of cookie cutters.
Oooh I am in the same boat as dancingpandasoap. So far I have only done baby showers and not for many people. Wow you have some work ahead.
Gah! I am sooooooooo excited about this particular project/tutorial I can barely stand it!
My best friend from college is getting married next spring, so I may very well wind up needing this kind of guidance very soon. I’ve only ever done two other sets of wedding favors (my own and candle-favors for another friend’s Vegas wedding in the Valley of Fire! *lol*), so the prospect of doing it again makes me a little nervous. Thanks for sharing, and that goes for Debbie, too!
