If you have a fake tree this holiday season, then you’re probably missing out on the fabulous Christmasy scent of pine tree; it just goes with Christmas. I’ve figured out a way to have your cake and eat it too. Or should I say have your fake tree and smell it too? However you want to phrase it, these wax ornaments are all natural, easy to make, and will definitely bring your some Christmas olfactory cheer. Check out this tutorial for another beeswax ornament idea!

Infused Annatto Seeds? Check out this episode of Soap Queen TV to learn how to infuse Annatto Seeds in oil for an all natural colorant.
NOTE: If you have a big tree you’re going to want to make a bigger batch. And if you dare, you can even add more essential oil so it’s extra piney! This recipe makes 8 ounces total (two bells and eight trees).
ONE: In the microwave (and in a microwave safe container) melt 8 ounces of Yellow Beeswax. Be very careful when melting beeswax in the microwave, it has a pretty high melting point. Just make sure that you melt the wax in short bursts stirring between sessions.
TWO: Once the wax is melted, add 1/2 ounce of Fir Needle Essential Oil and 1/2 ounce of Cedarwood Essential Oil. Mix well and pour into the mold. Then add the twisty ties making sure half of the tie is sticking out.
(NOTE: The Christmas Tree Flexible Mold and Flexible Bell Mold have been discontinued. They have been substituted with the 6 Cavity Christmas Assortment Silicone Mold.)

Great! I don’t plan to burn it! Thanks again for your help.

I have another question concerning these fragrant tree ornaments. I also think I would like to make them as closet deodorizers (maybe the Cedarwood Essential Oil would help keep the moths away.) I would like to make them in a green color. Would you recommend using Bramble Berry’s Green Chrome Oxide or do you have another green colorant that you would recommend? Thanks again for all your help.
Anne-Marie says
As long as you didn’t burn it, it would be fine – but you can’t use Green Chrome to burn the wax so keep that in mind =)

Thank you, Anne-Marie, for all your help.

Courtney, what soap queen tv video should I watch that will show infusing the annatto seeds in oil? Also, I noticed that Bramble Berry doesn’t carry Cedarwood Essential Oil or Fir Needle Essential Oil anymore. What should I substitute?
Thanks for all your help.
Anne-Marie says
The Rebatching video: http://www.youtube.com/user/soapqueentv#p/u/18/2YcCV0AWutw has the infusing annatto seeds
We have a great Cedarwood here: https://www.brambleberry.com/Cedarwood-Essential-Oil-P4897.aspx
and Fir Needle: https://www.brambleberry.com/Fir-Needle-Eo-siberian-P3826.aspx

I know it is July but I am already planning way ahead for Christmas – and this project. I am a little confused as to the Annatto Seeds. Should they be infused in the Fir Needle Essential Oil and the Cedarwood – or should they be infused in another oil like olive or sweet almond oil? If the latter, how much(sweet almond oil with infused annatto seeds) does one add to the melted beeswax? (Also from the photo of the bell mold, it almost looks like the red annatto seed-dyed beeswax is in the middle of the bell and it is surrounded by the yellow beeswax. Is this correct and how does one do that?) Thanks for your help.
Courtney says
Sorry we weren’t more clear about that in the tutorial. Watch the video on infusing the annatto in another oil like sweet almond or jojoba. Then you add a little bit of that oil to the wax as colorant.
The video will show you how to make a super concentrated colorant so a couple of drops will do the trick. Or add as much as you want until you get the color you’re looking for.
The picture with the different color oranges was taken as they were cooling. The outside wax has totally cooled…you can still see the warm wax in the middle.
Sorry for the confusion. I hope that helps!

Interestingly enough, they were designed for ice. But really, what is an ice cube mold if not for soap?

I’ve been looking for those Christmas tree molds to make candy in – I’m assuming they will work for that as well!
Anne-Marie says
I love that soaps and candle stuff is often kid friendly. Kids that have their fine motor skills dialed in would be great helpers on this project.
Anne-Marie says
Totally – especially if you know someone in a nursing home or someone who can only have a small fake tree.
Anne-Marie says
Aw, shucks! Thank you =)
Anne-Marie says
A soap bar is a smart idea! I use ’em as drawer fresheners sometimes =)

They were a lot of fun.

I love Sleighride. Yes, Beeswax shrinks up nicely so it definitely does a
good job easily popping out.

I do love the scent of ‘Tree’ through the house during Christmas =)

They look Fab AM. I use Sleighride in mine ( the ornaments I mean!) and it lasts and lasts. The beeswax is easy to unmould too.
