FSE Baby Shower |
In December, when Chris’s company, FSE, found out I was pregnant (he announced it first thing in his annual “Message to the Company”), two of the engineers’ wives immediately offered to throw me a baby shower. It was so kind of them to organize a couple’s shower for me, Chris and baby Renoud. I kept trying to help but they wouldn’t let me. All we did was show up and enjoy our special day; there was lots of laughing, lots of advice and lots of anticipation.
Of course there were cupcakes! |
But not just ANY cupcakes! Baby Cupcakes! |
They had fun games that mostly involved making fun of Chris. He was a really good sport though.
Notice his practical footwear? High heels, size 11! |
Eeek! Cradle the baby’s head! |
There was also a game where people had to guess the circumference of my waist. Obviously, I don’t look as petite as people keep saying because some of these men picked sizes that could have spanned a kitchen table! My husband did it right though and picked the smallest size he could.
Wise man! |
We got some adorable gifts. And we felt so thankful by everyone’s generosity. We’re just thrilled to have a celebration of our impending arrival and then to get gifts? It was very sweet.
Just a little small for Chri |
We were especially delighted with one very practical gift that came from the youngest inspector at FSE. His name is ‘Guy’ and he’s also expecting a baby girl – just one month after us! He bought us a Pack’n’Play in a great color – gray and black.
Look at the pile of clothes off to my left! And the adorable bouncer to the right. (swoon) |
Some of the other hightlights were a hand-knit blanket, handmade bibs + receiving blankets and of course, another cute outfit from Grandma and Grandpa Renoud. Our little baby boy will be the most stylin’ newborn in Bellingham with the amount of snazzy outfits his Grandparents are getting him.
We were so thankful for the love and joy of the day. It was so much fun. Stay tuned tomorrow for the Girls-Only Baby Shower report =)

What great pics Anne-Marie. You and your hubby look very happy. I still say you are tiny, even pregnant. Are you keeping the baby boy’s name a secret? I haven’t heard it mentioned anywhere.
Anne-Marie says
For what it’s worth, I feel HUGE. And my husband is calling me “his own personal house” (all in good fun) so I’m not thinking he thinks I look all that small (ha ha). But you are sweet to say that.
We haven’t decided on a name yet; we have a whole spreadsheet with names to bring with us to the hospital. We’re hoping that one of the names sticks with us when we meet him. =)
Beth says
What fun, and how nice of them to throw this shower for you. Hubby is a good sport!
The countdown begins. . .
Anne-Marie says
I agree – what a good sport and what a great group of co-workers. We were so touched by their kindness.
Ana Maria says
Anne Marie and enjoying beautiful images. I love the picture of your husband with the high heels and apron. And change your blog a good thing.
Anne-Marie says
Thank you! We are very excited to meet our little boy. And yes, my sweet husband is rather fetching in his high heels, isn’t he? LOL!

Baby showers are the best!! Looks like you had fun and got a good haul. 🙂 It’s too bad babies don’t stay in those sweet newborn outfits for very long. 🙁
Anne-Marie says
Lots of fun! And I got lots of great advice and the joy that everyone shared with me was so amazingly uplifting.
Erin says
Congratulations! It looks like everyone really enjoyed themselves, and you received so many nice gifts. I love baby showers :). I don’t know if you remember me but I had my online soap business Little Shop of Erin 2000-2005. Anyways, just wanted to say hi and that I’m so happy for you and Chris! – Erin
Anne-Marie says
Of course I remember you! Thank you for popping in. =) Yes, super fun shower with a lot of laughing. I love any excuse to party. =)

Looks like it was a fun day for both of you!!
Baby showers are so much fun and it brings “home” that this is really happening!! ….its real!!
We’re expecting our 6th grandchild at the end of August…have 5 grandsons ….maybe a little girl!!
Anne-Marie says
Congrats on the new grandchild! That is so much fun. So you don’t know what you’re having? And if you have a girl, wow is that little one going to have a lot of pink after five boys in a row! =)
Lori Nova Endres says
How cool! Looks like everyone had a great time. You are so good at doing blog posts so we can all be a part of the special things in your life. Makes the distance between friends much less. Thanks for sharing & keep it up 🙂
Anne-Marie says
I do love technology for helping to keep friends together too. It is definitely a plus compared to what our grandparents had to deal with. Can you imagine having to send letters and wait for them to arrive to communicate? It would definitely make it more challenging to communicate easily! =)

Anne Marie ~ We have trained our daughters well that I am ‘Superstar’ and my hubby is ‘Mr. Wonderful’. My daughter looked at the picture of you and Chris labeled ‘Me and Mr. Wonderful’ and said “That’s not Daddy!”
Anne-Marie says
That is hilarious! Mr. Wonderful exists in more households than just mine and that makes me so happy. YAY for having an awesome spouse, huh?
Frances says
What a lovely shower! FSE=best coworkers ever. Such cute things, too!
Anne-Marie says
It was sweet – I was so touched that they wanted to host the shower. I think it was totally worth it for them to get Chris is high heels. =)
Michelle says
It looks like you both had a wonderful day. I adore your cute pink shoes and they matched your outfit. 🙂
Anne-Marie says
Thank you! I’m glad someone noticed. I am reduced to three pairs of shoes right now (if you don’t count workout shoes) so it’s lovely that I was able to find matching shoes for the outfit out of the three. =)
Mary Humphrey says
That would be “are” fantastic, not “is.” Where’s the edit button when you need one? 🙂
Anne-Marie says
We’re going to switch to Disqus commenting again as soon as we can and the blog is happily stabilized with no more major changes. And with Disqus, you can edit. Soon, my friend, soon! =)
Mary Humphrey says
You can tell Chris he looks rather lovely in high heels. Oh my goodness!!! He had to have been a good sport.
Love the baby cupcakes, they look fun (and yummy)!
And Anne-Marie, I have been meaning to post this, your new blog colors and set-up is fantasic, easy to use.
Anne-Marie says
THANK YOU! We were so excited to be able to unveil it. We’ve been working on it for a while and of course, still need to some help (missing a lot of thumbnails on older posts) but it’s nice to see it come to fruition.
And yes, my husband is the sweetest, “goodest” sport ever. He is such a catch. And more importantly, he is going to be a great Father. I’m excited to start this next part of our lives together.
Jeanee says
Those babies chillin’ on top of the cupcakes are cracking me up! Looks like your shower was fun!
Anne-Marie says
Aren’t they adorable!? So cute!
Ruth Esteves says
What fun! Our son was born 5 weeks early (but no worse for it; he would have been a BIG baby full term) so we brought him to our all-ready scheduled baby shower! It was exciting for everyone, but took away the anticipation. No “guess the belly size” games! 😀
Anne-Marie says
You are SO tiny; how did you have a big baby boy!? Your husband must be tall. =) Our baby is definitely on schedule to be a nicely average size which makes sense because I’m average size as is his Daddy. If he came 5 weeks early, he’d be here now. And I do not feel ready yet! Though, the Baby Room is 100% prepared and I’m packing hospital bags today. =) I just don’t feel like it’s time yet. Give it a couple weeks though and I’m sure it’ll feel like time because I’m getting awfully uncomfortable!

That bouncy chair will save your life. You should give whomever gave that to you the biggest thank you note ever!!
