Can you see this for soap packaging? The little dividers are movable and the price is right – $3.99. Ikea wins again. This little box is made out of solid walnut with a dark stain.

Newseum is a very useful site for travelers. One of my professors (Reid Buckley) said that an easy way to start out any meeting or speech is to mention something of importance to the local community. Newseum certainly makes that easy.
They have copies of the front pages of most major newspapers, making it easy for you to catch up on local news and things that are important in the region you’re traveling to next.

Thank you to Barb at Honey Grove Botanicals for this hint:
I am still experimenting with the icing, but for now this is working.
I added 2 tablespoons of sodium lauryl sulfoacetate and 2 tablespoons
of baking soda to the icing recipe that you posted. I added 2-3
tablespoons of additional water to smooth it out. I use a hand mixer
on high to add more air. The icing still needs to be crumbled under
running water but it adds to the bubbles and is less resistant.
Here is a photo of Barb’s cupcakes.
The icing looks like icing and Barb thinks if she whips the icing for longer, she can even get it to be as fluffy as the original non-SLS frosting cakes.
Thanks Barb for the tip!

WikiHow has a “How to make cupcake cones”
My love of cupcakes borders on obsession. It runs a close second to my love of soap.
Click here to read the cupcake cone tutorial.
Yum.
P.S. If any of the Bramble Berry staff are reading this, this would be a good way to get to the bottom of my heart. I would even reimburse you for expenses from petty cash …

Sigh. One more failed experiment. But every failure leads me closer to the perfect recipe.

Watch the video for a better example of the spatula swirling method. The movement is a swirling up, down, and around in an “S” shape.
Putting the Sunnybrook soap mold dividers into the mold is easy if you squeeze the outside two plastic pieces to hold the entire puzzle of inserts together.
Gently tapping on the counter to encourage air bubbles to rise to the surface is a good way to make sure you don’t get white bubbles in your finished bars. Remember to keep your eye protection on for this step.

This is the scary part. The soap already looks good. The swirl looks like it’s beautiful. Take a deep breath and plunge your spatula into the soap. Go around your entire mold 1 time in an “s” wave pattern from the top to the bottom and from side to side. There’s a fine line between
swirling too little and heading into mush but that line is always further along in the swirling process than you think.
Cover your soap and wait patiently for the soap to harden. You can safely unmold your soap in two to three days for the great swirling unveil.

I’m not sporty nor daring enough to surf. This video is an astounding representation of what it’s like to be inside the tip and curve of a wave.

In this Sunnybrook mold, it’s easiest to do swirling with a super white base and a bright vibrant color. One tried’n’true method is to take out 10% of your soap recipe and mix in the color super dark. In this example, we used blue iron oxide and pumice for texture.
Here I am, pouring the white fragranced base soap into the mold, having done one white/blue pour already. Notice how the blue color rises to the surface.

I cooked this tasty healthy dish up last night. It was delicious with feta cheese and potato bread! Thanks to Dandelion Organic for the recipe and Anna’s Cool Finds blog for the photo.
Fassolakia me Kolokithakia Ladera:
Stewed Green Beans and ZucchiniA simple, delicious and very common summer vegetable side dish from Greece. This dish is described as “lathero” which means a dish with lots of olive oil.
1 pound of fresh green beans (can use purple beans)
¾ pound of small zucchini
¾ pound potatoes, cut in half or quartered if large
1 medium onion, diced
2-3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 large tomato, puréed (can substitute 1 small can diced tomatoes)
1/3 cup of extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon of salt
½ to 1 cup parsley chopped
3 tablespoons mint chopped, optional (add at the very end)Snip the ends off the beans.Trim the ends of the zucchini and cut in half, crosswise.
In a sauté pan warm the oil and sauté the onions and garlic, sprinklingwith salt, until tender, about 6 minutes. Add the beans, the parsley and toss for 2 minutes to oil them. Arrange the potatoes then zucchini on top of the beans in layers, sprinkle with salt and pour the pureed tomato over them.
Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for 30 minutes or more, until potatoes and beans are cooked and most of the juices are absorbed. Do not stir but occasionally shake the pot. Check regularly and add a little water if needed.
Let the beans cool for at least 15-30 minutes before serving. “Fassolakia” are eaten hot or cold. They can be refrigerated and are equally tasty the next day. Serve with feta cheese and rustic bread
