S.O.A.P. Summer 2012
We’ve got some great fragrances that we can’t wait to try out for the next round of the S.O.A.P. panel, Summer 2012! We need to enlist 8 soapy soldiers to help us decide on the new fragrances for Summer 2012.
What’s up with the S.O.A.P. panel? Soap Opinion (Awesome) Panel members will receive 10 one ounce fragrance samples of our top fragrance choices for Summer 2012. Give the cutting-edge fragrances a sniff AND test them in any product you like (CP, MP, lotion, scrubs, body balms, candles, anything!). Then fill out a survey to help distinguish the top choices. We want your honest opinion and notes on testing! In the past, we’ve really enjoyed the fact that our S.O.A.P. team members have taken no liberties in expressing exactly how they feel about some of the samples. If the fragrances don’t pass with the SOAP Team then they don’t pass with the BB testing team either.
- “Smells foody, but then a bit antisepticy at the end, a bit like acetone at the end but at first foody…not sure which food, cookie, vanilla but definitely acetone, burning to the nose at the end.”
- “Fruity, orange (dreamsicle), popsicle scent or fruity chewing gum, kind of want to lick it.”
- “Fruity again but with some floral at the beginning, strong at first but then relatively subtle, a bit perfumey, not something I would want to eat.”
Thanks Mommy You Soap It for those super creative and funny quips, taken from this blog post: The actual notes from my sniffer when I first popped the bottles open {SOAP Panel}
How do I get in on the action? Tweet, Facebook or Blog about your favorite Bramble Berry Fragrance Oil (including links) and why you should be selected for the S.O.A.P. team. You have until Tuesday January 24th to get your links out there, and then we’ll choose and announce the finalists soon after. Be sure to get your tweets, posts and blogs done by next week! Note: your Tweets should have @brambleberry someplace in the body of the Tweet (but make sure they don’t just get directed directly to @brambleberry or else no one else can see them)!
Fine Print: We will be sending the fragrances out by the end of next week and we would like the surveys complete by February 27th, which gives you about a month to test the fragrances. Please keep these dates in mind before you enter. We are looking for an accountable and enthusiastic panel, so be sure that this works out with your schedule! Because these fragrances can’t ship internationally, we are not able accept international entries.
Still curious? Check out the results from previous S.O.A.P panels!

The darling soap above was made by Emily from Soap and Restless. She was on the Summer Soap Team for 2011 and did a fabulous job testing the fragrances in her cold process soap. Check out Emily’s Blog Posts about her testing experience: SOAP Opera Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3, Episode 4, Episode 5.
Remember to Tweet, Blog and Facebook about your favorite Bramble Berry Fragrance Oil.

Hmm…Interesting comments. While I do understand that not all soapmakers participate in social media (and perhaps that shouldn’t count against them), one of the ingenious things about the SOAP panel is the fact that it promotes Brambleberry thorughout social media. The panelists typically chronicle their findings in hopes of getting some promotion via Brambleberry’s blog. It’s a win-win situation through the use of social media.
Anyway, I’d like to be included in the summer panel. I am specifically interested in testing it in soaps and candles, but I’ll make some fun stuff too, if chosen, and will definitely do a giveaway at the end. I have a few ideas up my sleeve already. I have tweeted and posted on Facebook and today I ‘promoted’ the panel on my blog http://bonniebathblog.blogspot.com/2012/01/brambleberry-seeks-soapers-for-summer.html
Good luck to everyone. I love reading the panel members’ takes on the fragrances. Thanks for the fun, Brambleberry!

Hi Erica,
Thanks for your entry. You posted just as we were finalizing our list but please, enter in the next one. I love that you have a blog (I’m headed over there right now) and I love that you are so social media connected – nice!
PS – Courtney remembers you on a previous SOAP Panel and says “Hi!” She loves your new layout, BTW. =)

All these posts are making me want to order more scents! Love hearing the feedback from front line users!

Ok, here’s how social-network challenged I am. I wrote this long post about loving to make soap and detailing my favorite fragrance. I mentioned Bramble Berry several times in the post. And after I posted it, I realized that it didn’t link to the Bramble Berry FB page. So then I left a comment and put in the link to BB. Will that work or do I need to do something else?
Courtney says
So did you post on our Facebook page? I don’t think we have you on our entry list yet. You can just post about your favorite fragrances here on the blog =) Or on your blog and then send us the link.

I did today, Courtney. Thanks!

Hello Bramble Berry Team!
I also am not a social-network type person, but would LOVE to be on the S.O.A.P team! I am working on getting a blog up and running and would be able to post results on it when the time came.
My personal favorite Bramble Berry Fragrance is Lettuce!https://www.brambleberry.com/Lettuce-Fragrance-Oil-P3897.aspx I just love this fresh, crisp scent in bath bombs and CP soap! I haven’t been able to find another one like it! Another favorite is Almond Biscotti. https://www.brambleberry.com/Almond-Biscotti-P3866.aspx It holds so well in my soap and the first time I made a batch with this fragrance, my customers bought me out in 3 days and I tons of requests for more! Finally, we come to my 3rd favorite fragrance. Chocolate Espresso! https://www.brambleberry.com/Chocolate-Espresso-Cybilla-Fragrance-Oil-P3364.aspx LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I use this fragrance in soap cupcakes (using your recipe of course 🙂 ) and have had multiple people try to eat them.
I hope to be chosen for the Brambleberry S.O.A.P. team because I love your fragrance oils, (Shoot, I love all of your products!) and am convinced that your company is the most prestigous and high-quality supplier on the market. Who would want to use anything less than the best? Not me. Plus, I bet I would be the youngest on the panel. I’m only 17 and have been soaping and making bath products for 1 1/2 years now and started my company in September last year. Here’s my website.

Best wishes to whoever gets picked for the panel this season and thank you Bramble Berry for supplying entreprenuers with the best supplies ever!

Thanks for quoting me A-M in the above blog post! I absolutely loved being part of this team last year and highly recommend it to all soap makers!
and by the way a couple of my latest FO faves are Energy, Dragonsblood and I can’t forget Tropical Punch! (chosen from my term on the S.O.A.P. panel last summer!)

I love following the S.O.A.P. teams, and have done a blog post, although my soap business has a facebook page, I don’t, my kids are the admins. so I am not sure how to work that. My question is are people from overseas allowed to enter?
Anne-Marie says
You did a blog post? Awesome! What’s the link? I’ll go check it out ASAP!

Oh yay! I have been waiting for another panel! I wanted to apply last time but had too much going on! Now to just decide which is my favorite BB fragrance. Way too many good ones to choose from!
Leslie @ LillaSyster Soap Co. says
Just a quick question. I see a lot of posts on the Bramble Berry Fan page. If we choose to FB our posts, do we post there or on our own Facebook feed?
Anne-Marie says
Your own page – just make sure to tag Bramble Berry =) And then we’ll see it.

I, too, am not on any social networks. I know myself and I would not get anything done (I already have Bramble Berry in my favorites which is too funny since it stays open on my desktop 24/7 already).
Is there a way that we “networkless” could be included in the S.O.A.P. Team application process?
My favorite fragrance is the question. Where do I start? I love BrambleBerries Tangerine FO, https://www.brambleberry.com/Tangerine-Surplus-Fragrance-Oil-P4164.aspx It has been a go-to scent for me during the dreary days of winter. I also love (my expression is taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly) BB’s Black Cherry and Cream Cheese Frosting FO’s, https://www.brambleberry.com/Black-Cherry-Fragrance-Oil-P4607.aspx & https://www.brambleberry.com/Cream-Cheese-Frosting-Fragrance-Oil-P3654.aspx My husband was headed to the mixing bowl, he didn’t know I was soaping, to lick the remaining ‘batter’ when I got to him first, BARELY, to pop his bubble. Barely….because I actually thought about letting him 😉
I’d like to be selected to the “TEAM” because I like adventure and to get out my ‘scientists’ costume for other-than-Halloween purposes sounds great! My soaping projects are a self-selected ministry. Besides friends and family I add my projects to Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes, that all went to Haiti this year, as well as to single mom’s groups that I am involved in. I like soap but I love creative soap!
Anne-Marie says
Definitely! Consider this your official application =)) You definitely like your fruity fun fragrances.
I love that you are so philanthropic. Go YOU! That is awesome.

What about those of us that aren’t on Facebook or Twitter, nor do we blog?
I have found, annoyingly, lately, a number of online businesses that will only allow those customers that are on a social network to have access to specials or contests. Not everyone is into social networking. I value my privacy, but would still like to have a chance in participation!
I recently contacted an online historical clothing business that was offering customers a chance for a gift certificate if the customers “liked” them on Facebook (or, whatever it was). I asked about the rest of us. They were really nice and said they hadn’t thought about those customers that don’t network. I was entered and they sent out a blanket email to all their customers offering everybody the chance for the gift cert, just by emailing or phoning them. Everyone is happy!
Are we “networkless” folks out of the running as fragrance testors, too? 🙁
For what it’s worth, my favorite BB fragrance is, hands down, “Black Amber & Lavender”. It’s warm, sultry, romantic and has great lasting power. It works in M&P, bath salts and straight out of the bottle (when I want my massage therapist to have a nice day, too!). Both my husband and 13 year old son give it their favorite vote, as well.
Anne-Marie says
Thank you for your comment, and for your feedback about Black Amber & Lavender. It’s one of my favorites too! And of course we happily will consider your thoughtful comment an entry.
We love serving our customers — all of them, whether they use social networking sites or not.
BB offers a variety of ways to connect and participate in our community without having to join
places like FaceBook. At the blog, we have contests and giveaways. At our forum, we facilitate a really great discussion on soap and business and anyone
can participate there.
We try to match each type of event with the place where it makes the most sense for everyone.
For example, with our soap fragrance testers, so much of the value for our customers happens when
they see what other people say at our FaceBook about oils they tested. For our SOAP projects, that’s half of the fun – the conversation that people have about the fragrances and testing. =)
Happy Soaping!

Whoops! Just noticed it auto-posted my blog entry without so much as a handshake or ‘how-do-you-do’! That’ll teach me to do… well anything before my morning cup of tea!
