We are busily shipping out orders and dreaming of fun projects to experiment with when the holiday rush is over.
The new contest for the week is easy – post a comment *in this thread* with the dream project you’d like to see us tackle. Not much is out of bounds so suggest the wildest, most difficult, exotic project or just keep it simple – either way, you’ll get an entry into the fabulous random drawing for the goodies photographed below.
Among the loot is a Sweet Pea candle (the pink one in the back) from Full Moon Candles, two of the Choco Balm Experimental Lip Balms and a Banana Nut Bread Beeswax candle and more!

I would like to see a bath set, with oatmeal scrub, bath crystals and the add-ons too: candles, natural washcloth etc…Im a big fan of oatmeal in soaps and scrubs, something like that would be great.

I would really like to see a liquid soap tutorial, perhaps divided into 1) facial cleansers, 2) body soaps, 3)shampoos

I need stuff to be easily laid out with photos and directions, just like the great chocolate lip balms you made.
I want to see how to make body butters. I’m sure it’s straight forward, but I haven’t seen too much information on it or explanations of why you use what in it.
Mango BB sells at Bath Junkie for $25…it’s gotta be a better deal to make it yourself, and what a great gift matching fragranced soap and BB makes for Xmas!

How about decorative hp soap, or hp soap out of single cavity molds. I DID read the tutorial on teach-soap about this, but have not got up the nerve to destroy another of my mold yet!

i have two things i’d like to see. 🙂 A tutorial on making soap with milk (especially with heavy cream. mmm.) and a tutorial in doing oven process CP soap. I can find any good information on how to do it, and I”m wondering if it really speeds up drying as much as some people claim.
Great giveaway!

Hi LoveMichie –
It definitely sounds like they’re using it as a pH balancer. It’s a common practice to use sodium hydroxide to balance pH in lotions but I don’t see it done in small-scale, indie producers’ products normally.

I would love to see a very decorative CP bar. One that could rival M&P in it’s creativeness.

Care to share any info on CPHP soaps? I know that you can do a batch of CP and finish it off in the oven to reduce/eliminate curing time, but can’t find info on what temps, how long, and which molds are safe…
Joanna Schmidt says
Yes, unique packaging ideas with everyday items…. not necessarily store bought.

I think this happens to me about 50% (or possibly more) of the time when a person finds out I make handmade soap–The question I am usually asked is “Do you make liquid soap?”
Prior to learning to make CP, I always used liquid soap. I don’t know if it is a NY/NJ thing or this happens all around. But in any case, that’s my next project that I am looking into and pretty nervous about it.

Hi Anne-Marie!
Murad replied with this…
“Sodium Hydoxide is an alkaline however there are different ph of alkalines especially when it is mixed with other ingredients. You are correct that too much of an alkaline or an acid can have a burning affect on the skin. However I assure you that all our products our PH balanced.
We do follow the guidelines given to us by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Board.
We also use anti-inflammatory agents and anti-bacterial agents as well as Retinol to normalize the skin cells. By using all of these different ingredients, we are creating the best environment for the skin.”
So I guess they do use it to balance ph?

I would like to see a welcome basket designed for guests visiting from out of town for a wedding. Maybe a soap, candle, lotion or other goodies in a cute bag or basket. These would be in their hotel rooms when they arrive. I would love tips on designing labels to go on these items.

Hmmm.. I’d like to see a simple, basic soap recipe done cp, hp, crockpot, etc. and then the results compared.
