You want to set a goal that is big enough that in the process of achieving it you become someone worth becoming.
— Jim Rohn
How are you doing on your 2009 goals? We’re just entering March which means that you’re 17% of the way through the year. Are you 17% to your goal yet? Are you making daily, small incremental amounts of effort to ensure that you are making real progress? This is the year for change, challenge and innovation. Opportunity is everywhere. We just need to be relentless in our efforts so we’re ready to swing for the fences when that perfect opportunity arises.
Many of you posted goals here, here and here. If you’ve fallen off the wagon, take a moment to re-read your goals and recommit yourself to excellence in 2009. Just think about how thrilled and happy you’ll be when December 31st rolls around and you’re 10 pounds lighter, have 5 more wholesale accounts or have strengthened your family relationships.

Hey Anne-Marie! Thanks for checking in on me about my goals. So far so good. I’ve starting selling at craft fairs in Los Angeles and I’m still working on wholesaling and getting my soaps in stores. I am being optimistic that this year is going to be a great year for me.

What a reality check. I am not doing so hot on the progress of my goals. Thank you for the progress check. Needed that reminder and extra nudge.

Hi Kat –
We have shrink wraps that fit the Chapstick Tubes, lip pots & lotion bars (push tubes).
Unfortunately, we tested the .33 Perfume rollers and they were just too big for the chapstick shrink wraps 🙁 Sorry to be the bearer of bad news – but good call trying to figure out how to make those supplies stretch farther!

My progress? I have two assignments and a test left for chemistry, so I should be done in two or three weeks. I’ve already met with the advisor at the university about attending in September! So I’ve got most of tick box beside that goal!
For our business – we’re staying word of mouth until the summer (I’m getting married in May and we won’t have time until then), then we’re going to go to our local farmer market and do some selling (but it’s more about promotion).
My best friend and I always set out to learn or do two new things per year…we’ve already taken up jewellery making and karaoke, so that goal is done!
So I’m on my way to meeting my goals for the year. I just need more time and fewer cold and flu symptoms!

Kat, I’ll figure out your answer and get back to you.
As for the rest of you, just remember:
“A million miles journey starts with one step”
Every. Day. Relentless. Effort. Every. Day.
It’s a grind. It’s not terribly fun but little results daily lead to amazing huge massive achievements at the end of the year. =)
Mary, Great job on meeting your business goals! That’s great. I do notice that my personal goals are more difficult to hit as well. Something about taking care of myself is more difficult than making one more sales call. Strange, huh?
LittleGemsbyKari, I love to knit! You are going to have so much fun with this once the initial drudgery is over. And I’m betting you’ll be giving away lots of scarves this year for presents. =)

Anne-Marie-
I love this time of year only because you give so much encouragement to keep on track. You are absolutely relentless and I appreciate you for that.
It is funny that you have this post, last night I was doing a check up on mine.
I have definately found that my “To Do List” is way bigger than hours in a day. Nonetheless, I am still plugging away and being more accepting of myself for not “getting it all done”.
I have decided to have one day to reflect and perfect. Which is actually one of the goals.
Thank you for being such an inspiration!

You are totally right Anne-Marie. Darn it! I posted them on my blog, but appreciate the reminder to keep them fresh in my mind. Without a positive attitude, focus, and dedication for success, I would be crazy woman right now, trying to do it all!

This year is planting a foundation for me. I am relocating and trying to make money at the same time. I think I will end up alright.

I just went back and looked at what I posted for goals and I am amazed at how much I have already accomplished. I am glad you asked us how our goals were coming!
LittleGemsbyKari says
I’m still on the wagon!
Business Wise
-I want to hit 50 sales (maybe even 75 by 2010) 1/2 way there!
-I did 3 craft fairs – I’ve already looked into doing 2!
Personally
– My Husband and I want to be home owners,- Still looking
– Learn to Knit! – I learned one stitch! I’m not good at it yet but I did give it a whirl!

I kept my goals small and easy (learn something new for each of my hobbies) and have accomplished 3 of the 4. Compaired to other’s goals though, I feel like I’m cheating (smile)
Mary @ Annie's Goat Hill says
I have 13 business goals on paper for 2009. In front of me is the list of goals, 8 are crossed off as completed. Of the remaining 5 goals, 3 are long time goals (for year end), and 2 I have missed by a few days. I am doing good!
Personal goals are flailing. Notice, I did not say failing, because there is always time to make them work, and they will!

Fallen off the wagon? I’ve forgotten that I ever got ON the wagon. So lame…but ditto what the others said: thanks for the reminder!

I agree Carol. I have the same problem. My immediate goal is to get products to my photog for better website pictures and also to send product to at least 3-4 large chains by 3/15. Thanks Ann-Marie for the reminder!
Carol says
Thanks for the reminders about our goals. Sometimes I get so busy with the day to day that I forget the bigger picture.

Anne-Marie,
Can I ask a technical question?
I have these roller ball .33
oz. containers for parfumm oils,
and the lip balm white containers,
and your cute little push up sticks, the minis, and the fat little push up sticks, and the deodorant push up sticks.
oh, and 1 oz. amber bottles.
still trying to trouble shoot labels, I am wondering if your shrink wraps 100 count can accomodate some or perhaps maybe even all of these sizes. Do they shrink a big percentage like regular shrink bags? I was on the BB website two times this week looking at that particular product when i closed out of that window and got out of the BB site and lost the whole order
my primary objective is to label the roller balls first because i am actually selling fragrance in those….but it would be great to kill 4 birds with one stone until funds are released to produce every kind of label…
maybe i am lame or maybe there is a broken link, i don’t know.

Like a pitbull on a bone, we trudge on! Hot pursuit. Small, incremental steps.
My husband asked me two days ago, “So, why are you so hot and heavy workin’ on your website?”
“Because I set a target date of 3/1 and I am behind target, that’s why!”
“Oh……”
Did that get me a night off of meal prep or dishes or…or…or?
Nope!
Progess is being made. and it is going slower than I want but still it is being made!
When taxes are over…that will free me up more…..
Thank you for asking!
It helps to have accountability!
Passion fuels us on even when we are so tired and overwhelmed…
doesn’t it?!?
