My friend Jody owns Cupcake Royale. Prior to getting addicted to her tasty morsels, I didn’t think much about cupcakes. I mean, I like them. I ate them occasionally but not more than the average person. But, after a few cupcakes from Jody, I started to crave them and got genuinely hooked.
I knew I was in trouble when I started browsing the Flickr accounts for photos of the Great Cupcake Crawl. I kid you not, there’s actually 3 pages of photos of cupcakes. It’s like cupcake … porn. I felt dirty, or at least my mouth watered, when I perused the photos.
Cupcakes are super hot. I love that cupcakes are super hot in the marketplace right now. Why? Because it’s proof that you can charge just about anything you want for a product if you only show the end-consumer that there is perceived value to be had in the product.
It’s like $.22 cents of ingredients and as someone else points out, it’s the generally around the same 4 ingredients in all the cupcakes. So, why does a $2 cupcake taste better than $.22 cupcake I made in my house?
Take a look at all the amazing cupcake sites I’ve been drooling over lately:
