Jamisen is One Year Old

It’s hard to believe but Mr. Jamisen is 1 year old. He went from this:

In ONE YEAR! Seriously. How did that happen? He’s like an actual little boy-person. Things that Jamisen can do now: pull himself up on chairs and legs to a standing position, ‘scoot’ around things, point, wave, clap, say: Mamma, Dadda, ba-oon (balloon) and hi and eat good sized solids. He has his own Twitter account for photos. You can follow him @bramblebump. I post photos every few days and my favorite right now are pages 16-20 from when he was teensy, teensy tiny! Everyone told me it would go quickly and it has – it’s been like a blink of an eye from when he was just 6 pounds leaving the hospital until now when he is a healthy 22 pounds.

My creation

We make Jamisen his food from scratch and he has had refined sugar less than a handful of times in his life. Grandpa Faiola brought Jamisen his (Grandpa’s) favorite, favorite dessert – Hostess Orange Cupcakes. Jamisen was mildly interested but didn’t end up eating the entire cupcake. He was significantly more interested in eating the candle than the cupcake. It was heartwarming that he wanted to share his birthday treat with his Daddy.

Jamisen will get another chance to eat refined sugar in the next few weeks (lucky boy!). His other set of grandparents couldn’t be with us today (darn that flu!) so we’ll have a do-over birthday party! In the photo below are Aunt Cheriss, Uncle Erik and Grandma and Grandpa Faiola (plus the three of us!).

It doesn’t seem possible that it’s been a year since Jamisen was born – it has definitely been the fastest year of our lives – and we can’t wait to see what the upcoming year holds. Here’s to more laughter, love and joy – for everyone! Happy Birthday Jamisen!

  1. Happy Birthday!!! it really has gone by so fast.. just as a customer and, follower i remember you being pregnant only a few months ago!! not more than a year ๐Ÿ˜€ He’s such a gorgeous, happy little thing! Love it.

    • Trust me, this year went SO fast! I remember me being pregnant and it feels like just a few months ago. People who told “This goes fast! Enjoy every moment!” weren’t lying. Time does accelerate when a baby is helping you mark time. Thank you for being a customer, by the way! =)))

  6. Enjoy every minute of it, as the years will continue to fly, and you will look back , as you have this year, and wonder where the years went.I am so proud of your effort to be a good mother, and feed him delicious homemade food, not many will take the time.
    Congratulations on a beautiful family, and a wonderful web site.

    • He gets veggies and fruits at lunch and dinner and for breakfast, sometimes he gets to forgo the veggies depending on what it is. My family really focused on healthy foods for us growing up and it’s just been a lifestyle we’ve carried on as I’ve gotten older. I’m so thankful for our health for our entire family and never take it for granted – nutrition is a big part of that =) And yes, time is WAY flying!!!

    • I know! I remember when he literally could not roll over and now keeping him still to read a book to him is a major challenge! =)

      Jamisen isn’t walking yet. Is your little one walking yet? He just started clapping and it’s his most favorite thing in the world to do right now (well, besides be carrier all around the house, all the time, by me!). =)

    And that’s awesome u make all of his food. Do you recommend a baby food appliance/processor or just use a regular food processor?

    • We use the BabyBook by Beaba (http://www.beabausa.com/) Donna Maria, Kayla and Lela got it for us! We love it. We also use the Vitamix routinely as well as the Magic Bullet (sometimes, if we’re pureeing up single servings, there’s no need to get the whole Vitamix dirty!) =) It’s way cheaper to make your own too so in addition to preparing better food for him (way yummier than most prepared baby food), it’s also more economical. We got several baby food books that have some fun ideas and that way, we can switch it up every meal for him too. I know I get bored with the same food! He would too, I’m guessing =)
