Thank you to Bob Pritchett from Logos Bible Software for alerting me to this super cool Bacon Soapmaking Video.
Just a small safety note, weighing out oils is better than volume measurements if you’re making cold process soapmaking recipes. But, even without that pesky scale part added in, this is a fun instructional video!
Click here to see the 5 minute video on rendering fat, cold process soapmaking and making soap that looks like bacon.
Does soap made from bacon fat actually smell like bacon? Not sure if the rendering process or any chemical processes remove or reduce the bacon smell. I love eating it, but I don’t want to smell like it.
Hi Andrew! The process of going through the saponification process actually removes that bacon-y smell and your finished product won’t actually smell like breakfast. 🙂

Clever, but it makes me think the dog might follow you around all day…
Ha ha =) That would be quite the sight!
Thanks, Anne-Marie! I’ve even been thinking of what I would call this soap but “Le lard gros savon” or “Savon de cochon” doesn’t sound like it would sell. ;D
And I even have several slogans in mind – “Drive your man wild with hunger”, or “So he’ll always look at you with hungry eyes” or simply “Bacon! Smells like bacon!” but the last one might have Purina’s lawyers after me for copyright infringement. 🙂 LOL
Armi, You are hilarious! I just about spit out my protein shake snorting with laughter.
Oh, I am so not going there. I’ll probably catch my guys trying to eat this soap in the shower. ;D
This reminds me of the Taco Bell bacon chalupa commercial. If I use this bacon soap, will it also attract hungry men in droves to me? Hmm, now there’s a thought…. 🙂
MMMM.the sweet smellof bacon in the shower!!
I love the cheekiness of the video – and the ingenuity of getting the soap to look perfectly like bacon!
There’s gotta be some novelty store out there that would buy it by the loads.
Not sure why anyone would want soap that looks like bacon? LOL . . . but a cool video nevertheless.
Makes me think of Invader Zim.
“Why is there bacon in the soap!?”
Very cool though, and a great way to recycle grease.
