I hope you’ve had a great weekend. We spent the weekend with friends, enjoying the sun and luxuriating in the very mild temperatures Washington State is having right now (yes, we feel very lucky when we look at the heat wave elsewhere in the US).
Jamisen met his first puppy this weekend, Cookie, an adorable addition to Team Breakfast Cookie. He seemed to be interested by what was in Jamisen’s diaper. =) And while the babies played, Erin (the brains behind Baker’s Breakfast Cookies) and I read and relaxed. I’m reading the new Ann Patchett book, State of Wonder, and can hardly put it down. Her writing is so nuanced and the storyline is unique, with widely drawn characters and a likeable protagonist. If you’re reading anything fantastic, I would love to get your recommendations.
First off, thank you for sharing everything you do- we love it! Secondly, your son is too cute in those onesies 😉 I go through books on a frequent basis so I had to comment with the last two books I read. The first was The Help (if you haven’t read it yet) which was written amazingly and such a heartwarming and eye-opening story. Also, the other was If You Were Here by Jen Lancaster. You seem to have a pretty good sense of humor so I think you could enjoy this. It is about a husband and wife that go through the process of finding a home that both can agree on and the challenges they meet after they choose. Funny Stuff!
I’m a huge fan of Jamisen too… he’s just too cute for words… and I kid you not.. if he were a girl, I’d probably kidnap him (I’m going baby girl stir crazy…I need a girl!)
can’t wait to see what fantasic creatures he brings home!
I’m sort of hoping we get a girl for our next one but I’ll take anything healthy and happy =) But yeah, I want a girl too.
I just love that you share such wonderful parts of your lovely family, and it is NOT just about business!
As for MY book of the moment: And I urge ALL parents to read is “ROAD MAP TO HOLLAND” by Jennifer Graf Groneberg. The quote is “It’s like planning a trip to Italy only to get off the plane and discover you’re actually in Holland. You need a new road map, and fast….”.
Have I intrigued you yet? No? While true this book was written by a mom with a special needs son, what attracted me was this sentence: “This book is a resource, a companioun for parents, and above all, a story of the love between a mother and her son – the child she didn’t know she wanted, the child she always needed.”
This book was given to me as I am a 50-odd year old mom of an awesome 3yr old little girl we were blessed to adopt who HAPPENS to have Asbergers’ Autism. PLEASE NOTE: I did NOT say she IS Autistic, because what she IS, is brilliant (she reads at the age of 3 1/2), she is beautiful and there is nothing better in the world than when she runs to me with her little baby arms wide open for a hug! Even tho alot of mom’s have kids with little or no issues… I think this should be on every mom’s reading list! Trust and believe this story of love will stay with you long after you put the finished book down!
Thank you for the reading list suggestion – I’ll add that. I read a wonderfully powerful book about a Mom with a Down’s Syndrome child and it was so beautifully written and moving. It sounds like this is definitely right there.
And as for your daughter, she is INCREDIBLY lucky to have such a caring, conscientious parent. =)
Jamisen is so cute! I have a Jack Russel Terrier as well, Cinnamon, just like the one in the picture, and never gets tired… I like to read, and my favorite books are The Secret and The Power by Rhonda Byrne, and When we were Saints by Han Nolan… BTW, Ann M. thanks for the amazing recipes! I always tweak them to give a personal touch.
I love the name Cinnamon for a little Jack Russel. Aren’t they the sweetest? But yes, tons and tons of energy.
“When We Were Saints” – I’ll check that out! Thank you! =)
All I can say is “sigh”! So cute!!! He has cute pudgy cheeks you just want to touch! Thanks for continuing to share your photos with us.
His cheeks get pudgier every day too =)
so cute! Love the outfit too! Reading Physics of the Impossible by Michio Kaku right now.
Thanks – I will check out that book!

If you do decide to get a pet, please check out the animals at the Humane Society or your local animal shelter! They have a lot of animals in need of a good home! 🙂
Oh I know. Our COO used to volunteer walking them at lunch. It was the sweetest, and most sad, thing =) We can’t have animals because Grandma Faiola is very very allergic to them so Jamisen was lucky to meet my friend’s puppy because there won’t be much more than fish in his life for a long time =)
Oh, you have to get him a dog! We have two, my daughter is 2 and our puppy is 1. Our puppy is her biggest toy and partner in crime. A true addition to any family, even of one person! 🙂
We would LOVE to but Grandma Faiola is allergic to all animals so it’s either a dog or her and …. well, we choose her. Ha ha =) But he will love his fish, his lizards and his spiders – anything that Grandma isn’t allergic to. =)
LMAO… my sister got a yorkie for her birthday a few months after my son turned 1 and, talk about partner in crime!! Wesley used to wake up in the middle of the night, let the puppy out and, together they would terrorize my sister’s room, while she slept. All of her stuffed animals would be on the floor, trailing from her room to the living room. They also used to chase eacth other around the house… I know it’s all quite hilarious!!
what an adorable pair!
I know, right? You cannot go wrong with a baby and a puppy!
I said it before and I say it again: I love Jamisen!!!!!
I´m his fan 😀
