Thank you Rare Bird Finds for turning me onto this nifty soap idea.
CityBird sells these for $6 on Etsy. Hurry though, there’s only one left on this sale. They do bulk and custom orders in case you want to direct hapless tourists in any area of the country. Quoting from their site:
Our original product (and still a favorite!) is our translucent city map soap currently available with detroit, chicago, new york and brooklyn maps. each soap is handmade from a vegan base, scented with all-natural scents, and tinted with natural, vibrant colors. the map image is embedded in the center of the bar and will stay until the soap is gone.

Did you see the Microsoft soap project? I’m betting that will give you some great ideas for making a soap with an image in the middle:

Now how do you suppose they do that?
As a “virgin” or ‘soap-maker-to-be’
I sit staring at the box of goats milk m&p along with clear base m&p
which I am unable to get past confused between “essence, essential oil, fragrance, and baby safe”… I’m in sort of a frozen state..
when I see this map soap I think, “hey, why not my own original sketches / line drawings or using a rubber stamp to create an inner design”? (for give-away gifts) Then I remember I haven’t found the great “AH-ha”!! of the additions to simple m&p.
If anyone can unravel the step-by-step mystery of how to create a soap with a design in the center that lasts until the soap is gone.. PLEASE STEP UP :^D with photos of each progression.
Even a newbie makes great strides…… Game on?
