Stephanie says: Over 10 years ago I was in a boring job and was desperate for some creative challenges where I could use my hands. I took myself to the local art school but the pottery class I was interested in was closed. Hmm. The only thing left was a metalsmithing class. So I hammered my heart out and have never looked back. I still have what looks like a tin-can I forged from copper sitting on my jewelry bench. It reminds me how close I came to missing out on my true calling as a jeweler.
Funny, I kept my first bar of soap too – just for that very reason.

Congratulations to Sparta Soap for making the front page of Etsy today (that’s her soap, 2nd down, on the right). It’s always nice to see handcrafted soap goods getting awareness and recognition. The Vetiver Balsam Soap has white clay in it to help add to dense bubbles and supportive lather.
On a non-soapy item, I was drooling over another item on the front page of Etsy. These porcelain cups would look just superb in my kitchen. You can buy your own set here.

Thank you Rare Bird Finds for turning me onto this nifty soap idea.
CityBird sells these for $6 on Etsy. Hurry though, there’s only one left on this sale. They do bulk and custom orders in case you want to direct hapless tourists in any area of the country. Quoting from their site:
Our original product (and still a favorite!) is our translucent city map soap currently available with detroit, chicago, new york and brooklyn maps. each soap is handmade from a vegan base, scented with all-natural scents, and tinted with natural, vibrant colors. the map image is embedded in the center of the bar and will stay until the soap is gone.

Building on the bacon theme from Friday, I was delighted to find seller SunBasilGarden on Etsy. Check out her creative soap art … including this unexpected soapy pairing.
You can see this bacon and eggs soap and her other work here.

I just found these amazing felted soaps by Lana de Flor. I had previously been a bit proud of my felted creations but these are so amazingly detailed and creative – even the orange has slices and the ladybug has spots – that they put my soaps to shame.
You can buy felted soaps from Lana de Flor at her Etsy Shop: lanadeflor.etsy.com

The entire office erupted into peals of laughter and joy when they saw these bath bomb cupcakes on Etsy. Being very frosting-impaired, their mounds of luscious frosting intrigues me.
Hey Card Lady has a cupcake bath fizzy shop on Etsy, though it is down a few products since I purchased 8 bath candies total. I can’t wait to get the goodies and use them as an excuse to take a relaxing bath.
