Rubber Ducky Soap Tutorial
I had a dream about this soap project and I actually got up to write notes down in my phone. Does anyone else ever have soaping dreams? It’s a blessing and a curse. I didn’t get much restful sleep that night (I dare you try to sleep with giant ducks roiling in foamy soap!) but I did come away with a super cute Rubber Ducky Soap project! I hope you like it.
I used the swirling cube technique from a couple weeks ago. Don’t you just love how easy it is to swirl by controlling your temperatures? I want to see you make this project or a variation of it on the Bramble Berry Facebook page. Flaunt your Easter soaps!
Are Waving and Clapping Essential Life Skills?
Jamisen in Cartoon Form
Seriously, doesn’t this look like our little red-haired Jamisen? The artwork is done by my friend Jess (want routine laughs? Follow her blog!) who is working on her own cartoon book (thanks to Kickstarter – check out her project here). How talented is she?! I backed her Kickstarter project and that was before she drew a remarkable likeness to Jamisen (grin).
See the resemblance now?
Jamisen is becoming quite the little squealing talker. He has this especially adorable quality of trying to crawl away when we walk away. This is precious if you’re playing that game on purpose. It’s less cutesey and more terrifying if you’re trying to just grab something and leave him on the bed for a second. I just got back from a two day accounting course in Seattle and this is the video that Chris and Jamisen made to wake me up this morning. It helps to make the time away from home easier because I really do miss my boys. We shoot SoapQueen.TV tomorrow – and I must go review scripts. Here’s to a wonderful weekend that is both productive and filled with many baby giggles and grins.
All You Need Is Love
Swoon!
Check out Bramble Berry’s new Love Mold, ready to make it’s debut to the world tomorrow, Friday 1/27/2012! I know what you’re thinking, “Where’s the tutorial, Anne-Marie? It’s tutorial THURSDAY!” Hang tight, Soap Queen Pals, we’re going to show you how to make the fabulous soap above. You’ll just have to wait until tomorrow. One. More. Day. =) How about a little baby love to keep you entertained?
I remember bubbles in childhood as fun and magical. Naturally, I wanted to introduce Jamisen to this fun and magical concept.
Whoops. Is that a look of terror on his face? Hm. Still terrified. Wait, if I can remember bubbles, how old was I when I played with those bubbles? But, proving he is my son, he did eventually warm up to the bubbles and even tried to use his slow baby reflexes to catch a few.
That’s my boy! Check back tomorrow for the LOVE tutorial. I swear, it’s coming!
Baby Swim Lessons and Granite Schooch
Our family spends a lot of time near or in the water in the summer. Swimming pools and open bodies of water (including bathtubs and toilets) are dangerous places for babies to be without proper training. We enrolled Jamisen in swimming lessons at the ripe old age of 8 months. So far, he’s not a huge fan of the water but he is a huge fan of the play toys IN the water (see below).
Happy New Year
May this year bring you love, laughter and fulfillment beyond your wildest dreams. Here’s to an amazing 2012!
Jamisen tips his hat to all of your goals, dreams, ambitions and wildest imagination for an amazing 2012.
We enjoyed a wonderful evening with close friends and made it home to kiss our sleeping son and crawl under the covers before the clock struck midnight. I can’t wait to wake up tomorrow to an entirely new year with all the excitement a clean slate brings.
Baby’s First Christmas
Jamisen’s first Christmas was a memorable occasion for us all. We started our holiday weekend with Christmas Eve service (which was really a morning service coupled with a delicious brunch). Jamisen was happy and had such an easy going attitude the entire time. He was passed around from person to person and he was sure to favor them all with smiles. There were two childrens’ stories and he sat patiently through both of them. [Read more…]
#AwkwardFamilyPhotos
This photo was too funny not to share and ask for help with a caption. Jamisen was rather startled to be handed to a giant green Grinch but, rest assured, Chris and I were right there to cheer him on. Apparently, our cheering? Not so motivating as evidenced by the look on his face. Got any great ideas for a caption!?
Such a Fast 7 Months
And, just a trip down memory lane – four short months ago:
Jamisen’s latest feat of impressive skills now includes sitting up on his own and his own little version of a crawl. We call it a ‘scoot’ and encourage it with vigorous games of fetch. He definitely goes the extra mile for his pacifier (aka ‘binky’). He loves eating solid foods, especially fruit (go figure, the boy likes his sugar). We can’t wait to see what the next 7 months brings!
Rockin the Sweater Vest
Hello from the weekend! I’ve been having a wonderful weekend with Jamisen and friends. We are so lucky that a new cafe in Bellingham just opened up. It’s called ‘Time in Play‘ and it’s a cafe + play area for kiddos. The play area is huge (2200 square feet!). It’s less than 2 miles from our house so perfect to pop Jamisen into the stroller and go hang out. We have played there 3 times this week already! Plus, they have Hemp Milk. It’s delicious if you want a non-dairy alternative (that’s right, you read that correctly … salted caramel. It’s amazing).
Baby in the Pumpkin
I bet when you saw the title of this blog, you didn’t think I literally meant ‘Baby in the Pumpkin’ but yes, we carved out a pumpkin and all in the name of fun photography, stuck Jamisen in the pumpkin
The baby in the pumpkin did make this year more memorable than previous years. We had an extra fun time carving our pumpkin this year! As you can see, we did it a little differently than the traditional Pumpkin =)
Pumpkin Patch Family Fun
We have had a fantastic weekend with family. I feel so lucky that my folks were able to come up for the entire weekend. We explored Stoney Ridge Farm today and wow, was it packed full of families! I haven’t seen that many families in one place ever! Of course, once we visit Disneyland, that statement will probably change.
Jamisen has never seen farm animals before. In fact, besides a few adorable niece and nephew dogs, he’s never seen ANY animals before. He seemed interested.
Jamisen’s First Food
My parents fed me ice cream at 3 weeks old for my first food so in keeping with the inappropriate dairy choices for children, we are keeping that magic alive with Jamisen’s first food taste.
Behold … whipped cream!
