Rainbow Jojoba Bead Sugar Scrub

Jojoba beads are perfect for scrubs. Along with adding gentle exfoliation to your recipe, they also add a gorgeous color. The Fresh Rain Sugar Scrub gets its blue hue from Ocean Blue Jojoba Beads. Using different colors and layering them creates a fun rainbow effect in this Rainbow Jojoba Bead Sugar Scrub.

The Rainbow Jojoba Bead Scrub uses five different colors of jojoba beads. Sugar adds more scrubbiness to the recipe, which gets rid of dead skin and helps your moisturizer absorb. Spring Meadow Fragrance Oil adds a scent that is reminiscent of a bouquet of fresh flowers. Potassium cocoate gives the scrub lather and leaves your skin feeling non-greasy. Potassium cocoate is the potassium salt of coconut fatty acid. It’s an all natural liquid surfactant made from 100% whole coconut oil and potassium hydroxide. It works great in scrubs, shampoos and liquid soaps.

This scrub works great for your body. It is also gentle enough to use on your face. The scrub is strongly scented, so you may want to use less fragrance if you use this scrub for your face.

There are so many options when it comes to coloring your soap. This week, rainbow was the inspiration for a series of bath and beauty tutorials called Rainbow Reverie. In addition, a different fragrance oil and colorant are 25% off each day.

Green Chrome Oxide and Grass Stain Fragrance Oil add a bright color and fresh scent to the Green Meadow Melt and Pour Tutorial. The middle layer uses grated soap to create a confetti look, which adds interest to the solid green layers. A pink flower on top adds contrast and a feminine touch.

Blue Rain Drop Swirl Cold Process

The Pacific Northwest experiences its fair share of rainfall. While the abundant precipitation can limit outdoor activities, it keeps the air fresh and the landscape lush. This Blue Rain Drop Swirl Cold Process is inspired by the current rainy season. The drop swirl technique gives the illusion of water and the crisp Ocean Rain Fragrance Oil smells like fresh rainfall.

This project uses the new Tall Narrow Wood Loaf Mold. This sturdy mold produces tall bars of soap which allows for a dramatic swirl effect. Before using this mold, don’t forget to line it! Lining a mold can be a little tricky at first, but is easy once you get the hang of it. This blog post shows you how to line any mold, step by step.

Yellow Chamomile Cold Process Soap

This Yellow Chamomile Cold Process soap is cheerful and bright. This project is made with with Chamomile Bergamot Fragrance Oil and topped with chamomile herbs; it smells like a calming cup of tea. Chamomile extract is also added at trace to give additional skin-soothing properties. Made in the 4″ Silicone Loaf Mold, this mold creates four 1″ bars of soap. It’s ideal for smaller recipes or even test batches.

The vertical stripes are achieved by pouring the white and yellow soap into opposite ends of the mold at the same time. The colors are then swirled back and forth with a chopstick or dowel which pulls the colors into the other colored area. This technique is great for beginners, as you do not have to be precise when swirling.

Orange Creamsicle Bath Truffle

Bath truffles are a great way to add skin-loving oils to your bath water and your body. Bath truffles are made with more oils or butter than the typical bath bomb, but still produce plenty of fizz. Made with shea oil, cocoa butter and Creamsicle Cybilla Fragrance Oil, these Orange Creamsicle Bath Truffles smell absolutely delicious. Inspired by a classic creamsicle ice cream treat, they are easy to make and fun to use. They do pack a powerful punch of skin-loving oils which can (and does) leave your tub oily so be careful when exiting the tub!

When you’re ready to use, place the bath truffle into the bath and allow to melt and fizz in the tub. The oil and butter will soon appear in the tub water, giving the skin hydration and moisture. Because of the extra oil, bath truffles do make the tub slippery, so be careful when stepping out of the tub. I also keep a washcloth nearby so I can wipe down the tub (really, it is *that* luxuriously moisturizing) after I’m done bathing to clean it up right then and there. Rosy Red Lip Gloss Recipe

Rainbow Project Roundup

Color has the ability to change one’s mood and inspire. I love working with vibrant hues when soap making; colorful projects always put a smile on my face. If you’re going to make multicolored soap, why not go all out and use rainbow colors? The combination of red, orange, yellow, green blue and purple (and sometimes indigo!) is universally loved and screams happiness.
