Iridescent Pearl Bath Bomb DIY

Ever since Anne-Marie dyed her hair light pink, we’ve been obsessed with hair color trends. The latest trend to catch our eye is pearlescent hair. The technique involves creating multi-colored locks with a holographic effect. Pearl hair inspired these Iridescent Bath Bombs. They are covered in Rose Gold Mica and Aqua Pearl Mica to create the subtle ombré effect.

The great thing about this bath bomb technique is that it’s simple to do. Apply the mica directly to the bath bomb with your fingers and spread it around until you’re happy with the effect. There is no right or wrong way to do it. The process is a little bit messy though, so gloves and something to cover your surface is recommended.

Rose Gold Bath Bomb Tutorial

The formula for bath bombs is pretty simple. A little baking soda, a dash of citric acid, a few spritzes of witch hazel – that’s all you need for a good bath bomb. But adding special touches set your recipe apart. These Rose Gold Bath Bombs illustrate what a few simple ingredients can do.

What makes them so special? They contain pink sea salt that is coated in Rose Gold Mica. The shimmery salt gives the bath bombs a lovely pop of color and creates a soothing experience in the bath tub. Polysorbate 80, an emulsifier, helps the mica and coconut oil disperse in the water rather than pooling on top. Finish them off with bright Rose Quartz Fragrance Oil and your bath bombs will show once and for all that lovingly-crafted handmade products are always the best option.

What You’ll Need:
10 Disk Mold & Packages
2 cups Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate)
1 cup Citric Acid
1 cup Extra Small Pink Sea Salt
3 oz. Coarse Pink Sea Salt
¼ tsp. Rose Gold Mica
3 oz. Coconut Oil
9 mL Rose Quartz Fragrance Oil
0.3 oz. Polysorbate 80
Dropper
Witch Hazel in Spray Bottle

ONE: Mix the coarse pink sea salt with Rose Gold Mica. Add a small amount of the salt to the bottom of the bath bomb molds and set aside.
TIP: Don’t add too much salt to the bottom of the molds, or a large majority of it will fall off when the bath bomb is removed from the mold.
TWO: Sift together the baking soda and citric acid. Add the extra small pink sea salt and mix to fully incorporate.
THREE: Add the remaining coarse pink sea salt to dry the ingredients. Mix in thoroughly.
FOUR: Melt the coconut oil in the microwave using 30-60 second bursts. In a separate fragrance oil-safe container, mix together the coconut oil, Rose Quartz Fragrance Oil, and polysorbate 80.
FIVE: Add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture. Use your hands to fully mix together all the ingredients.
SIX: The perfect bath bomb texture is similar to damp sand, and holds its shape when squeezed in your hand. To achieve this texture, spritz the mixture with witch hazel with one hand and mix with your other hand. How much witch hazel you add will depend on your climate.
SEVEN: Once it’s the correct texture, add the mixture into the bath bomb molds. Press the mixture firmly and use your hands to smooth the back. Fill up each mold and allow the bath bombs to harden for at least 3-4 hours, up to overnight. Remove from the molds and enjoy!

Floral Sugar Lip Scrub DIY

If winter left your lips dry and chapped, a scrub is a great way to restore them. Just like body scrubs, lip scrubs exfoliate away dry skin. Once the dry skin is removed, lip balm absorbs better. Granulated sugar is the perfect lip exfoliant because it’s gentle but scrubby (and it tastes good if you happen to get some in your mouth).

This Floral Sugar Lip Scrub is a combination of coconut oil, cocoa butter, and rosehip seed oil to create a texture that’s solid at room temperature. It’s quite firm, but softens up when it comes in contact with skin. If you prefer a softer texture, decrease the amount of cocoa butter. A great way to test the formula is with the spoon trick. Rose Gold Mica adds a light pink hue, but does not transfer color to lips. Passionfruit Rose Fragrance and Flavor Oil gives a floral scent.

To use, apply the scrub to dry, clean lips and scrub away! Wipe or wash away any extra lip scrub on the lips. After using the scrub, apply your favorite lip balm to hydrate. This Kukui Nut Oil Lip Balm would be perfect. Depending on how high you fill each container, this recipe makes about 15 lip scrubs.

How to Make Rosehip Seed Bath Salts

A hot bath is the perfect way to relax and unwind – especially during the winter months. There are a variety of “bath additives,” like bath bombs, bath oils, bubble bars and bath salts. In terms of DIY, bath salts are one of the easiest to make. Simply adding plain salt (such as Epsom salt or Dead Sea salt) straight to the tub is great for the skin. But, taking the time to add a few simple ingredients to the salts creates an extra luxurious experience.

This Rosehip Seed Bath Salt recipe is made with fine grained Dead Sea salt. Bramble Berry’s Dead Sea salt comes from Israel via the Dead Sea, where many people travel to soak in its water. Dead Sea salt contains a large amount of magnesium, potassium, bromides and chloride which feel great on the skin. If you prefer a difference type of salt, feel free to swap it. Rosehip seed oil adds vitamins A and C, and gives your bath water moisturizing properties. Rosehip seed oil is considered a “dry oil,” which means it soaks easily into the skin. A touch of evening primrose extract is also added, which is wonderful for dry and mature skin. Polysorbate 80 disperses the oil throughout the bath water and prevents it from pooling on top. Rose Quartz Fragrance Oil adds a light rosy scent. Rose petals and a touch of Rose Gold Mica dress up the salts, but can be omitted if you prefer.

DIY Soaking Salt & Scrub Wedding Favors

If you have a lot of wedding favors to create, the task can seem a bit daunting. I recommend keeping the project simple to avoid unwanted stress. When you need to make a lot of individual favors, soaking salts are a great option. Simply mix the salts with colorant, fragrance and a small amount of oil to create adorable gifts. Best of all, you can make them well ahead of time or days before if need be.

For this project, I created ten jars at once using two different scent and color combinations to make five jars of each. One combination features Sweet Pea Fragrance Oil and Rose Gold Mica for a feminine option. The other combination uses King’s Gold Mica and Tobacco & Bay Leaf Fragrance Oil for a more unisex or masculine choice. These soaking salts can also be used as a body scrub by applying it to damp skin rather than adding the salts to bath water.

Nail Polish Wedding Favor DIY

Nail polish is one of my favorite cosmetic products to make. It’s easy and customizable. If you’re getting married soon, custom nail polish makes a fantastic a wedding favor or bridesmaid gift. A nail polish party is also a great idea for a bridal shower or bachelorette party. Last year I threw a nail polish party for a few friends and we had a blast. If you’ve never made nail polish before, it couldn’t be easier. In a nail polish bottle, simply add the mica of your choice, a mixing ball and the Suspending Nail Polish Base. Then shake, shake, shake to disperse the color! Then it’s ready to use. You can also add pigments to the nail polish base as shown in the Anti-Pinch Nail Polish, but if using pigments, they do need to be mixed in isopropyl alcohol first to get rid of clumps.

Rose Gold & Charcoal Heart Melt and Pour Soap Tutorial

If you’re looking for a sophisticated spin on Valentine’s Day colors, this is the project for you. Pink and black come together to create elegant contrast. The small heart in the center, made with the Mini Heart Silicone Column Mold, makes this project a great way to for show your love this February (or any time of year!) These bars are scented with the light and floral White Magnolia Fragrance Oil.

If you’ve never created layers with melt and pour soap before, I would recommend watching this Soap Queen TV video to learn the basics. Layers require a little bit of patience, but are well worth it. In addition, layers require an understanding of how melt and pour behaves at certain temperatures, so I would recommend getting a few melt and pour projects under your belt before you attempt this recipe. Romantic Rose Gold Melt & Pour Bars

Micas really shine in melt and pour soap (literally!). In a clear base, you can see all the shimmer and dimension in the individual colorants. It’s probably one of my favorite way to use micas. Learn what else you can add them to in Sunday Night Spotlight.

These Romantic Rose Gold Melt & Pour Bars really show off the individual micas. The details in the Tray Floral Wallpaper Mold are filled in with gold, black and pink colored soap. It provides contrast and creates a romantic color palette. The base is colored with a bit of Rose Gold Mica, which is a gorgeous mix of warm gold and dusty pink. Baby Rose Fragrance Oil is added to go with the romantic color palette. Use one of these bars to add some shimmer to your normal bath routine!

Rose Gold Cosmetic Collection: Eyeshadow, Lip Shimmer & Nail Polish

Micas can be used for a variety of projects, including lotions and melt and pour soap. They’re also great for cosmetics, because they add beautiful shimmer. For this project, we used Rose Gold Mica to create three different products! This Rose Gold Cosmetic Collection has a gorgeous nail polish, eye shadow and lip shimmer. All together, they create a gorgeous collection that’s perfect for gifts.

Rose Gold Mica is a lovely two-tone mica. It appears as a pale rose pink or a glimmering gold, depending on how the light hits it. In the Lip Shimmer, it adds a subtle rosy color to the lips, while in the Nail Polish, the gold really stands out. The Eye Shadow has a lovely pale golden pink finish. You can wear one product at a time, or all of them at once for a cohesive glam look. These recipes create four of each product.

Moisturizing Highlighter Sticks

In the world of beauty and cosmetics, highlighting and contouring has become amazingly popular (seriously, it is alllll over Pinterest & YouTube). This beauty technique involves applying darker and lighter shades of makeup to certain areas of the face to create definition. Applying darker shades is referred to as contouring, while applying lighter shades is highlighting. Contouring and highlighting can create the look of a stronger jawline and more pronounced cheekbones. It’s amazing how a little well-placed makeup can change the look of one’s face.

These Moisturizing Highlighter Sticks focus on the highlighting areas of the face that you’d like to “pull toward you.” Primarily, highlighters are used on the cheekbones and under the eye area. These highlighters are made with moisturizing ingredients such as green tea seed oil and jojoba oil to keep skin hydrated.

Various colors of mica can be added depending on your skin tone. Below, we have formulated a basic highlighter shade with no color, as well as highlighters with a pink and peach tone. You can also add more or less mica, depending on how much highlight and sparkle you like. The amounts below could be considered an “average” amount.
