When skin feels dry or flaky, it’s time to create a scrub! This dry scrub uses a combination of gentle baking soda, extra fine Epsom salt, fine grained dead sea salt and poppy seeds to create a scrub that gives plenty exfoliation. Sea clay adds a touch of gentle scrub, as well as color and oil-absorbing properties. A pinch of Aqua Pearl Mica is added for color and a bit of shimmer.
Olive Oil & Dead Sea Salt Scrub Tutorial
From now until July 25th, transport yourself to the romantic and cultured city of Rome, with the Roman Holiday series. Why Rome? Other than the amazing art, impressive history and stunning architecture, Rome is famous for its Roman Baths and the popular myth of Mount Sapo is said to have originated in Rome. Keep your eyes on the blog, Tumblr and our Facebook page for a collection of tutorials and sales inspired by the Mediterranean and the fragrance sample of the month, Neroli & Shea Blossom.
The first project in the Roman Holiday series is an easy to make sea salt scrub! Using Pure Olive Oil and Fine Grained Dead Sea Salt, this scrub is perfect for the legs and body. Scented with the warm, citrusy Neroli & Shea Blossom, the scrub leaves a wonderful light scent that’s perfect for summer. (Note: Because this scrub is made of oil, do take caution exiting the tub and shower as it will make the bottom of your shower slippery – after all, it’s pure, nourishing Olive Oil which is great for nourishing skin but not so great for walking on.)

Margarita Epsom Salt Scrub Tutorial
Nothing beats relaxing on a hot sunny day with an ice cold beverage — especially if it’s a margarita! We took some inspiration from a classic summer drink for this festive and easy salt scrub.
The extra fine Epsom Salts are like sand, and make for a wonderfully gentle exfoliant. The combination of Deodorized Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil and Jojoba oil help suspend the granules and provide plenty of skin-loving goodness without melting too much — no messy pools of oils will form on top of this scrub! We experimented with Coconut Citrus Sorbet and Lime fragrance oils to get the perfect sweet scent, but you can certainly adjust it to suit your tastes. Scrub up!
Show Your Love: Pink Salt Foot Scrub
Now that the SuperBowl is over, our Seahawks soaps made (congratulations to the Seahawks on your win!), it’s time to turn back to our DIY obsessions. Consider this a deluxe Sunday Night Spotlight — today we’re not only introducing you to the wonders of Pink Sea Salt, we’ve got a bonus foot scrub tutorial as part of Show Your Love. Read on to learn more about this versatile salt and how to make a nourishing scrub for yourself.
Pink Sea Salt comes in four different sizes: Coarse, Medium, Small and Extra Small. The coarse salt is great as a garnish on cold process soap or melt and pour, while the smaller sizes can be used in scrubs. Bramble Berry’s Pink Sea Salt is mined from salt beds in the Himalayan Mountains, and it is believed to be the purest form of salt available. You can find variety of tutorials using this wonderful salt on the Soap Queen blog. Some of our favorites include:

Rough Patches Wash Tutorial
When it comes to scrubby washes, there are hundreds of options. I’m picky about what goes on my body (working at a soap company will do that to you!), and I wanted a scrub that was gently exfoliating as well as leave my skin feeling smooth and soft. This Walnut Shell Wash was the result. It contains finely ground walnut shells for scrubiness as well as colloidal oatmeal to serve as a gentle, skin-soothing cleanser. It’s great for rough patches such as elbows and feet, and the combination of Spearmint and Hungarian Lavender Essential Oils give this wash a mild, fresh scent. Next time, skip store-bought scrub in favor of this easy scrub you quickly make yourself.
Sweet Summer Scrub Tutorial
I love summer, but it sure can be hard on skin. There’s summer dryness, summer sun burn, summer bug bites and chlorine from the pool – all of which can make skin unhappy. With this Sweet Summer Scrub, we can (hopefully!) keep most of those potential problems in check.
This recipe is rich in Sweet Almond Oil, which is known for being a lightweight oil chock full of oleic and linoleic essential fatty acids. That’s basically a fancy way of saying it’s incredibly moisturizing and absorbs into skin with ease. Our decadent Foaming Bath Whip acts as the gentle cleansing base to help give your skin a fresh start (all the better to take in that rich Sweet Almond Oil). With a little help from the some regular granulated sugar you can find at the grocery store, you’ve got yourself a gentle exfoliating scrub that is must-have summer skin care item.
What You’ll Need:
2 lbs. Foaming Bath Whip
1 lb. Sugar
2 oz. Sweet Almond Oil
1 oz. Neroli and Shea Blossom Fragrance Oil
1 4B Frosting Tip
4 Short 8 oz Plastic Bail Jars

PREP: Before measuring out the oils, unwrap both packages of Foaming Bath Whip and combine in a large bowl (at least 64 oz.).
ONE: Combine the Foaming Bath Whip and Neroli and Shea Blossom Fragrance Oil in a large bowl. Whip using a handheld or stand mixer until the fragrance oil has been fully incorporated into the Foaming Bath Whip.
TWO: Portion out the Sweet Almond Oil and add it to the bath whip and fragrance oil mixture.
THREE: Using a hand mixer, combine the bath whip and oils. Whip until the mixture has approximately doubled in size (this is a good 5 – 10 minutes of mixing which is why a stand mixer is preferred).
FOUR: Once the bath whip mixture has fluffed up, add in the sugar a little bit at a time, using a spatula to gently fold it into the mixture. Be careful to fully incorporate the sugar while not deflating the bath whip too much.
FIVE: After fully incorporating the sugar, split the mixture into two equal parts.
SIX: Add approximately 4 mini scoops of Coral Mica to one bowl of bath whip. Add the same amount of Aqua Pearl Mica to the other. The mica colorant is WYSIWYG, so it’s up to you how much to add. Add an extra scoop or two for a more intense color, but keep in mind that the base is white and your color will not evolve past a pastel.
SEVEN: Cut the tips of the plastic frosting bags. Using a spatula fill one frosting bag with the Coral colored mixture, and the other bag with the Aqua colored mixture. Then, put a frosting tip and the two filled bags inside a third bag. Squeeze until both colors come out in one stream through the third bag. Twist all three of the bags together at their openings to create a seal.
EIGHT: With a steady hand, swirl the whip into a container. Move around the outside of the jar and work your way in as you squeeze. When you reach the middle, start swirling your way back to the outside of the jar. Repeat the swirl until you fill the jar to the top.
There you go! Enjoy your sweet summer scrub for those sweet summer days.
Neopolitan Sugar Scrub Cubes Recipe
In this episode of Soap Queen TV, I show you how to make Erin Pikor’s (of Naiad Soap Arts) wildly popular solid sugar scrub soap. The original post on how to make these solid sugar scrubs is a classic project that our readers keep coming back to.
In the video, I put my own little twist on this project by taking inspiration from Neopolitan ice cream. I made cubes of Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla. Yum!
