Wearing my Crown … Around my Neck
Finally, in industry related news, About.com Skincare is doing their Reader’s Choice Awards. Some of the categories include ‘Best Budget Lotion’ and ‘Best Indie Line’. I’m pretty sure I know a lot of indie beauty lines that would be great for this award. So go, speak up for your favorite brand (even if it is your own brand)! Click here to be taken to the About.com site and official ballot.
Sunday Shopping Splurge
Thanks to Rare Bird Finds, check out the cool ice cube tray that will make October soap displays at Otion particularly ghoulish. I also picked up a USB Fragrance Oil Burner gadget.
I wonder what the USB Oil Burner manufacturer considers a “safe” flashpoint for fragrances? There are some Bramble Berry fragrances I’d prefer (Red Lychee Tea or Carrot Cake), instead of than the standard Rose fragrance that comes with the device.
I love this necklace!
This necklace is going to be my reward for reaching a stretch goal. A stretch goal is something that’s achievable, but only through a large amount of effort, dedication, follow-through and maybe a bit of luck. You can even personalize the necklace here.
Goals should be achievable through daily amounts of small incremental effort. Meeting this sales stretch goal requires making 5 phone calls per day. So far, I’m 300 phone calls into the goal and 50% there. I’m refining my technique and getting better. Fingers crossed, the goal should be hit within 200 phone calls.
I’ve designed a photo of the necklace into a poster with the goal printed below. The poster reminds me, every day, about the goal and the reward when I meet (or exceed!) the goal. Wish me luck! I’ll let you know when I reach the goal and get the sweet reward.
Mommy Calling Cards
The hip gals over at Style Bakery turned me onto this fun idea – Mommy Calling Cards.
Fruition Designs sells 50 cards for easy playground swapping and sharing of numbers. When you’re balancing a baby on one hip and trying to hold onto a toddler with your other arm, reaching into your deep diaper bag to extract the one pen shoved into the deep abyss isn’t very practical.
Instead, whip out a handy card with your name, children’s names and contact information. Easy, cute, and colorful and you don’t have to worry about the looming mess in your cavernous bag.
Such cute dishes
Perhaps it’s my European (Norsk) heritage, but I am so loving these little bowls right now. How cute is the peek at the innocent couple kissing?
skinnyskinny soap co.
I was intrigued by skinnyskinny’s name when I saw that they made soap. At first I thought that they must have some angle on weight loss and got all excited. After all, if there’s anything out there purporting to remove cellulite, I’ll try it! But, no, they just have great soap products, focusing on all natural soap, organically sourced ingredients and an adorable logo. The logo reminds me a lot of Etsy’s cool color-suggestion-shopping-cart. And, great soap products aren’t anything to sneeze at, even if they don’t have any weight loss benefits.
Product Body pretty much rocks my world
I love the innovative goodies and packaging design at Product Body. Their products rock, they get great press and Joanna, their owner and creator extraordinaire has her own blog
with business musings and funny little asides, kind of like I try to do with mine. One of these days, we’ll have to interview her about her success, theories about business and how she gets the press she does! My favorite product of theirs (and I’ve tried them all – we carry Product Body at our retail shop Otion) is their Chez Salt. It scrubs beautifully and cleanly, rinses away nicely and leaves baby-bottom-smooth skin that is totally touchable and kissable.
