Our Balloon Gender Reveal party was just a party for the three of us: Jamisen, Chris and myself. We were all delighted and surprised when we found out a little girl would be joining our family this year. Baby Number Two is a planned, very loved addition to our family and no matter what the gender, we knew our family would want to celebrate in a big way. I designed a special fizzy that takes over a minute to dissolve and show the color (missed that tutorial? Check it out here) but before we did that, everyone had to vote “Team Blue” or “Team Pink.”
Below are the votes of our family (which wasn’t quite the same as yours pictured above). They were overwhelmingly Team Pink and I suspect one of the blue votes (from my Dad) was only done in solidarity so my brother didn’t feel so alone.
We didn’t make people wait long. The bath fizzy bonanza was the perfect suspenseful reveal. It was just long enough.

I also made a Gender Reveal Cake (yes, there will be an upcoming Soap Queen tutorial on how to make this very easy but time-consuming ombré cake) in addition to cheerful Pink Shortbread and Blueberry Blue Shortbread cookies. Cutting the cake was easy but getting the five layers onto plates was a bit harrowing. We managed. Eating it was the easy part! Though, I am stymied today with what to do with the leftovers.
Jamisen had a ball with so many people over. He loves his fort and spent at least an hour playing in it with his cousin Anamarie and cousin Analena.
Jamisen is delighted that it’s gotten too cold to keep his well-worn hand-me-down training trike outdoors so happily rode it all over the house to showcase his skills at competitive trike riding.
It was a wonderful day filled with laughter, tears and fueled by massive amounts of sugar. Chris, Jamisen and I feel fortunate and blessed to be surrounded on both sides of our family with such support. Jamisen is napping now and boy oh boy, there is a house to clean while he’s sleeping. So, I’m signing off until tomorrow to clean but positively bursting with delight and happiness over our spring baby girl addition.

Well, it only happens once or twice in a lifetime for us =) I keep trying to convince my husband for three but I’m not sure that he’s going for that extra one yet. Ha ha.

Yay I was right. Congratulations. Jamisen looks like he is really happy to have a little sister. I am sure he will be a great big brother.
I hope so! It’s just been him for a couple years so sharing us might be a shocker but he has such a close relationship with his Daddy that I’m sure it will help ease the sting of losing me to a breastfeeding baby! =)
I love your gender reveal ideas and parties! It is definitely something to celebrate! I adopted as a single parent and no one was very happy about it so it was a party of one but 14 years later I still celebrate every day being blessed with two wonderful girls! Congratulations on yours!
Ah, that must have been hard. I can’t imagine having little to no support as you embarked on parenthood. But you know what they say =) Being tested only makes you stronger.

I think you will do amazing raising a daughter. There is nothing in this world that I enjoyed as much. Praying for you to have a heathly little girl and an easy birth. My dtr who will find out next month talked about a balloon reveal as well. Did you not know until those balloons popped out of the box?
We did NOT know until those balloons popped out. It was such a joyous surprise. Of course, any healthy baby would be a surprise … of either gender =)

There would have been way less “stuff” to buy for a boy, that’s for sure. We already have all those toys and all those clothes. Jamisen doesn’t have a lot of princess castles though =)
