Otion was profiled in our local Bellingham Herald today – thanks Dave for the writing and Josie for the photo. The article can be found by clicking here.
In a nutshell, the article says that I really like working with my younger brother at Otion. That’s true. Three months into the partnership, it has smoothed out into an easy going, trusting relationship.

  1. I am so lucky to have Erik at Otion. There were some adjustment troubles since he didn’t know anything about soap and had not managed a retail store before but we’re past that, and I can definitely see the major positives that come from working with someone I can really trust. It’s been great in the last few weeks as the store has started to see progress with some of the changes his been implementing there.

I’m a very lucky gal – I’ve got a great staff at BB and feel very confident about Otion too.

  2. Staff? For now just me, unless I can count my three yo granddaughter who is my best “scent” tester in the world. For a year now she has really been into this “soap” thing. She carries soaps around-one hand holding one, while the other is almost sticking it up her nose! She knows exactly what scents she loves…as do my other grandchildren. It’s funny but it’s like imprinting~ alot of times I see people fall in love with the 1st scent they try….

But back to the reason I posted~ this is a “good thing” you & your brother working side by side. He brings a great element to the soap making business~ It’s not just a woman’s world!

Anne-Marie you are doing wonders for soapmaking. Hats off to you. I look forward to reading more about your business.

  3. I have such a tough time managing my staff now, I can’t imagine if they were family. Like you said about your brother and his fiance buying a house, its great you stepped back from that whole salary issue. How great it is though to work with your brother. Thats so nice the two of you have such a strong relationship 🙂
