We’re back from a glorious visit with my parents in Olympia, Washington. If I didn’t live (and love) Bellingham, Olympia would be a wonderful place to live. It’s very green, feels a little small-town-ish yet has amenities like a world-class hospital, a cute downtown and great hiking.

We went on two … ambles. To call them “hikes” would be an insult to the name since we mostly walked, talked and laughed, pausing often to admire the flora and fauna.

These photos were taken by my Dad on a hike to the Nisqually River Basin.

It was a joy to spend time with family and a blessing to experience the natural splendor of the great Pacific Northwest.

  4. I am so jealous. I have been feeding birds for few years now and have never seen an in person cedar waxwing. My sis lives out of La Conner and she said she has had several, at the same time, on the service berries around her place. It helps to be around water, from what I have read.
