Back in June, I blog-squealed about this super cool dice soap from DugShop. Proving that they either had a very good etiquette class or read about my obsession with thank you notes, they sent a thank you note for the Link Love *and* some of the super cool dice. We’ve turned the pair over and over, looked at them up close and obsessed about how they are made so perfectly. The black “spots” are absolutely symmetrical and mind boggling in their perfect shape. The dice are a bargain at $9! They came wrapped in a gift-worthy tube and were crafted with incredible precision. You can buy your own here.
While you’re at their shop, pick up some of their other funky creations like their Global Warming Soap, Obama Soap, Alien Abduction Soap Set or “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Buddha” soap (on a rope).

  1. Dug, that’s incredible! Thank you so much for sharing your secret with us all. It sounds very labor intensive. But, oh so worth it when the soap is viewed in person. The things we do for art, eh? =)

  2. Ha! We made a mold with the dots as indentations, then unmolded and did some creative alcohol application, followed by filling the indentations with black soap, followed by carefully scraping down each side so the dots were level with the rest of the soap.

We at dugshop have no secrets! It just requires a healthy dose of OCD to make these things (oh, and moldmaking ability!). These are labor-intensive, but nowhere near the massive pain in the backside that our global warming soap is. Maybe I’ll send you one of them next!

And thanks for the holla – we’re feeling the love!

p.s. the Alien Abduction basket is my personal favorite, followed by the literary fortune cookies….

  3. very cool. the perfect gift for a gambler, a backgammon partner or the fuzzy-lovin’buddies

    😉

  4. The dice are pretty cool. I checked out their Etsy shop and they have some interesting creations. I think the Alien Abduction Set is my favorite.
