Hello from Hilo, Hawaii. I’m on a birthday trip with some girlfriends to celebrate a milestone birthday. So far, it’s been lovely weather with a comfortable breeze. We went to a lu’au last night (a definite experience not to be missed) and today, did a whale watching snorkeling trip. We even saw whales (a real treat) and got up close and personal with some turtles. We were even able to touch them! Tomorrow, I’m going scuba diving early in the morning and am thrilled to find some quiet time tonight to work on tomorrow’s Happiness blog on the importance of quiet time. For now though, I’m going to go have some quiet down time.

Aloha 'oe!

  1. JulieK, You are SO lucky. What a wonderful gift.

Turtle Beach on the Kailua Kona side of the island was where we did all the amazing snorkling and the turtle crawled up on the beach next to us. It was a great site and would 100% be my first stop.

Second would be the Four Seasons. A glass of wine is $18 so come with a full belly so you can enjoy a wonderful sunset and a beautiful terrain.

We rented a huge house and a car so we could easily jet around the island and prepare our own food. That was a huge bonus – not having to eat out every single meal.

Have a wonderful 50th birthday. What a delightful present from your hubby.

  2. Anne-Marie – how exciting! My husband is taking me to Hilo in September for 10 days for my 50th! Please share the must do’s. Thank you so much!

  3. Sounds like you are having a fantastic time AM, I’m glad you are enjoying yourself 🙂

  4. Your trip sounds wonderful! I’m reminded of the trip my best friend and I took for our milestone birthday – we went to Martinique for a week! Lolling in the sun in between adventures has much to be said for it. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

  9. Sounds wonderful. Makes me long for home. I lived in Honolulu for more than 15 years. My parents are still there. I hope to get home sometime this year. The weather, the culture, the food, and the aloha spirit are truly missed. Sounds like you are having a great time. Good to hear the weather is cooperating. Your scuba trip should be great. Enjoy.

    Aloha

  10. Your visit sounds wonderful so far. I would love the sea life too!
