I love the soaps, lotions, & hair conditioner recipes you have posted.
What I really need (& want) is some facial lotion/ cream recipes…a day cream and a night cream recipe?
Thanks so much!!!
Allison says
This is a great idea! I would like to see candle, mp soap, rebatch soap, shaving cream, and even makeup projects! I’ll love to see how this all turns out!
Stacey Shelby says
I would love to see hair products, leave in conditioner, homemade gel, etc! Something that would not look like there is a lot of product in the hair!
Marilee says
I would love to see so many of the things people have already recommended. Massage oil candles would be awesome, mineral eye shadows, small M&P project, lipstick, shave bars…. so many possibilities!
Lois Howe says
I just voted & love the logo ideas!
I would think something awesome to see would be a toothpaste recipe, or other health-related item ❤️ Laundry soap, even. I’m astounded at how quickly my family’s eczema cleared up once I started making my own!

Here are some ideas….. massage oil, massage oil candles, hair treatments, and lotion bars.

I’d love to see a lip balm kit!
Amanda says
I think it’d be fun to learn to make goat’s milk lotions and products for the face(soaps and lotions) that are able to be customized to suit different skin types.
That being said I don’t know that I like not knowing what I’d be getting every month. Especially when it comes to fragrance as I am very picky when it comes to them and I have family members who are sensitive to certain smells.
Olivia says
Love this idea! What I’d like to see is massage oil candles in travel tins, with maybe some good beginner instructions on a few basic massage techniques. Mineral eyeshadow in pretty colors (think shimmery mica!) would be amazing too.
Kate says
How about massage candles for Valentine’s (February) and a nice pedi kit for one of the summer months.

My first vote is for nail polish. That’s mainly because that’s what I would be most excited to make!
A super easy diy project would be a facial mud mask. You could have a small bottle of rose water and maybe one with glycerin (to mix with) and bags of different clays and fruit powders…with a little sheet that when you answered certain questions (dry or oily) (breakouts or redness) the answer you picked decided which ingredient to mix together. It could be a mini spa party. Endless opportunities. Then you could have a #hashtag for everyone to take a pic and post their masked face on Instagram! That would be fun to look through!!

I would love to see lip balm! Even as someone who makes lip balms, sometimes they turn out great, and sometimes not so much. They are simple to start with, but the possibilities are endless to make fun varieties! And the kiddos in your life can have fun making them too! I liked on Facebook! I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Erin says
How about a luminizer with gold sparkle mica, castor, sweet almond oil and beeswax. It should be just soft enough to leave a light gold glow on your face! They are pretty popular to buy, and I would love to make one:)

This is such an amazing idea! I’m following you on Facebook and Pinterest. Since I am new to this type of DIY, I would love to see sugar scrubs, body butters, flavored lip balms and maybe a cold process soap. Love it!! Thank you.

I Liked the page on Facebook using my Teresa Robeson account. Thanks!
Teresa Robeson says
I actually use very few beauty products aside from basics like soap, face creams, lotions, lip balm, lipstick, and face powder. One thing I wouldn’t mind seeing (if it’s not already on your schedule) is concealer. I’d love to be able to concoct a shade that actually matches my skin tone.
I was also wondering how many of the product each kit makes. I would love kits that make 6 or 7 final products so that I can give some away for Christmas, hostess, or birthday gifts.
Thank you!
Lisa Christiansen says
Would love to see whipped butters – using shea, mango, etc. so could try different butters in combination – and salt scrubs would be great. After the summer, I’m sure everyone will be wanting to exfoliate and then moisturize! Somethings that are easy enough for beginners BUT not so simple that a more experienced crafter would be disappointed.
Hard to have ideas that work for all. 🙂
Alyssa Woodward says
Voted and am following on Facebook! I would love to do a winter-time lip balm. Chapped lips are the antithesis of beauty!
Kim says
How about bath teas or bath bombs? Both are great to give as gifts and can be done with a group of folks or individually. I think this would be a great project to do with folks who are in assisted living or shut in.
Audra Weisenberger says
Fantastic idea!
A simply perfume kits would be great and I would love to see a “All in One Scrub” that scrubs, cleanses, and is a great moisturize! What a time saver!
Gwen says
Wow, what a great idea! BeautyBox sounds like so much fun. I’m not sure I can add any new ideas, so many others are thinking just what I’m thinking. I make CP soap, so specialty soaps are always good. I love the spa ideas (bath truffles, scrubs, masks, lotions, hair products) and the homemade makeup ideas (nail polish, lipstick, eyeshadow, etc). As a crafty mom, I like involing my daughter as much as possible; so kid-friendly is also great. Also, thinking about the time it takes would be good. I love so many of your gorgeous, but complex projects (like the Roman mosaic soap or sparkly bath cupcakes). However, I know that as a busy mom with a full-time job, it would be really hard to carve out the time it takes to make such an intricate project. I drool over the idea of them (they’re SOOO pretty), but I know that really, it just ain’t happening. I imagine a lot of other crafty folks are in the same boat as me. Something that takes no more than 60 minutes to make would be ideal.

I would like to see (obviously) soap, of course, but that one is a given. Beauty items, made naturally, such as lotion bars, shampoos even. I think that sort of thing would be fun and not something I would necessarily buy right out on my own.

So far I’ve only made CP soap, but so many interesting suggestions posted makes me think I need to expand my skills. Lotion bars and lotions sound interesting.

Hi,
i would like to receive a project that I could do with my 11 year old girl. would like to include her in my projects.
Also keep trying the wonderful soap making ideas that are available in the soap queen blog, very easy, very simply, very clear and juts beautiful. I liked the Roman week projects also will like to see more specific themes such as Brazil, Mexican or US themes..will be interesting to use native herbs, or clay, essential oils, butters, etc.
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
Easy and fool-proof projects with clear instructions is our main goal. We want our boxes to be fun and easy for everyone!

Neat! I would love to see a shaving cream one – I’ve never been able to get my shaving cream to turn out well. A sugar scrub vs salt scrub one would be awesome as well! An aftershave box would be cool too. Samller versions of any of the soap queen tutorials, so you don’t end up with five pounds of something, but just one or two bars to see if you like it.
PS – I followed this on Facebook under MCTS Lanners! 🙂

There have been many great suggestions here. I like the mother-child project suggestions too.Seasonal melt and pour projects would be fun! (flowers, Easter eggs, snowflakes).
Projects that enable great, shared experiences between family and friends are a win-win I think. With that in mind, easy-level projects like simple melt and pour, sugar scrubs, masks and nail polish kits would all be great to do with family and friends.

Thank you for the suggestions. I love the seasonal themes as well. And I think you’re right regarding the social media icons on the logo – I actually like that they included them. Nice to see the potential.

Mother and child kits would be great. Lotion for mum, simple mp for the kiddo for example. Masques and other facial stuff are also great.
Why only have 1 option for pricing? An addition or 2 maybe? So people can choose which one suits their pocket best. Is this going to be available internationally?

This is hard, because there are soooo many projects that I would love to have shipped to my door! If I had to pick one, and just one, I would want something that I will actually use that isn’t too involved but something that is still out of the ordinary.
I think for me it would be a luxurious, silky lotion bar, complete with push tube for ease of use. I still remember my first lotion bar. It had cocoa butter and beeswax in it, and it smelled heavenly!! I still haven’t actually made lotion bars, because as nice as this first one was (a gift from my mother), it was in a metal tin and made a bit of a mess when it got soft in the summer and I just can’t justify buying and shipping a push tube for a lotion bar. But a project, just for me, shipped to my door, with beeswax, cocoa butter, maybe an exotic oil and a cute label on waterproof stock to complete my very own lotion bar would be awesome. It would be like someone tapped into the memory of this lotion bar and gave me the tools to recreate it, only better 🙂
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
Sounds like a luxurious recipe that you simply must recreate. Thanks for the inspiration!

What a great idea! I would love to see a candle making kit or some all natural beauty products. Can’t wait!
Erin Hall says
I would love to learn how to make soaps, lotions, and other bath essentials. I am a beginner so the instructions would need to be very simple, at least until I have picked up the basics. It would be nice to have the option to chose a level beginner, moderate, advanced, master. Or a year of beauty with 3 months of increasing complexity. Jan- Mar beginner, Apr-June moderate, July-Sept advanced, Oct-Dec Master. Just a thought, either way the beauty boxes are a wonderful idea.
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
This is the best brainstorm session ever! There have been a couple other comments suggesting levels. There might be something to this =)

GREAT idea! Bath bombs, sugar scrub, or a travel candle would be awesome first editions.

I’d love to see beginner, intermediate, and advanced subscription kits. Something easy for anyone to learn would be lip balms. Maybe imbedding for intermediate, and something like lotion for advanced. Shampoo bars, body butters, exfoliating soaps, sugar or salt scrubs are good ideas too. Can’t wait to see what you guys come out with!
Amanda says
I’d love to see a sugar/salt scrub.

or maybe every several levels of options per month
19.99, 29.99, or 39.99!
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
This would be a little more realistic since shipping is included in the price of the box. Thank you for your thoughtful ideas =)
shelly s says
I’d love to make a sunscreen. Very cool idea!
Lena says
It would be great if every month had a theme and that each month had 3 items to make (incase you don’t like one) for example one month could be exfoliating month. With items to make a body scrub, lip scrub, face scrub. another month could be hair month with a shampoo, conditioner, and spray of some sort. It’s good to match the kit with the season, people tend to have dry skin in the winter so a lotion, lotion bar, and exfoliant is great in the winter. great idea with the box, I think it might sell better at the 19.99/ mo price point.
Lisa Simmons says

I followed and liked your page on facebook. I think this is an awesome idea, and I look forward to seeing what is offered. I think melt and pour projects will be great in this, just use clamshells for molds or the like. Scrub cubes, scrubs, balms and butters, lip balms – the suggestions are pretty much endless. They would need to be simpler projects that don’t require excessive equipment, but overall, great idea. You could also offer “refill” kits for projects people enjoyed on that scale. A friend of mine and I did that for syndet shampoo and conditioner bars for people who wanted to make their own but not on a production scale. Good luck!
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
Yes. Projects that are easy to tackle without all of the fancy equipment. That’s exactly what we’re going for. Same page =)

I would like to see facial products. I have a teenager whom I’m trying to formulate various facial bars, shampoos, and masks for to help with teenage skin problems.
Lisa H says
Awesome idea.
Suggestion: fix the typos
Logos that catch my eye:
1st left hand side circular with white off white lettering
Top left right side love the antique look
4th down in the left
I do not think any of them should include fb, twitter icons. Why waste space on those. Focus on promoting you!
Ideas for boxes:
Nailpolish
Bathbombs / Fizzes
Lotion
Body butter
Eye serum
Face masks
Hair treatment
Scrubs
Polishes
* How about every month their is a event like father day, the month prior focuses on a gift for men. Like shave soap or after shave lotion? Mothers day foot scrub
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
Thank you for your comments on the logos. I agree, the social media buttons should be somewhere on the site and not on the main logo.
Lesli says
The first thing I ever made was a lotion bar. They’re simple, versatile, require no special tools, and can be made with oils on hand (olive, sunflower, coconut) or luxury oils like argan. They’re natural, and smell good with no added scent, or can take FOs or EOs. Want something vegan? Sub candelilla wax for the beeswax. No preservatives are required, and unless you scorch the oil or set the wax on fire, you can’t mess them up. And everything that goes into them can be used down the line in another project, including the mold.

I’d like to see DIY for a very nourishing lipstick included.
Imagene Farmer (Betsy Gundersen) says
Love this idea! I love surprises and love them even more when I can make something with them!
Imagene Farmer (Betsy Gundersen) says
And I love lotions and soaps…I usually do cold process so I wouldn’t mind trying out melt and pour to see how that works.
Beth says
Face and hair masks, shampoo bars, dry shampoo the possibilities are endless. great idea
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
The possibilities ARE endless. I’m having so much fun reading everyone’s suggestions. I like the idea of a hair theme.

I love making soap, but there are a bunch of other things I would like to try making. So having a little package delivered with just what I would need sounds awesome! I would like nail polish, melt and pour soap or lip balm kits.

There are many great product ideas. Body butters and lotion bars would be good first kits. Simple and non threatening for first timers. My suggestion would be to include cute packaging in the kits for products made…it’s all about the look!
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
Yep. It’s all about the details. Cute packaging and labels can really make a project POP!
Paula Johnson says
Sorry about the double post all. I didn’t see my original comment so posted again. My bad. Have a great weekend 🙂
Erin Tietz says
A few things I would like to see…different scent samplings each month, as there’s such a broad selection and it’s hard to choose without smelling it first. It would also be fun to see colorful projects that kids would enjoy helping with, maybe rainbow colored m&p soap? My kids would get a kick out of that. I would also love to try my hand at lip balms & chapstick too!
Thank you for the chance to win!
Paula Johnson says
I would like to see during the first 12 months ” Everything a crafty girl could want in her makeup bag” such as lotion bars, scubs, nail polish, lip balm, perfume etc.. that way at the end of the 12 months you have everything you need in your makeup bag.
Then for a special holiday edition “12 days of Christmas” which would be all about personal gifts for others for the holidays.
Then after the new year would be all about the home and getting ready for spring. Could have cleaning items as well as little scented wax tarts. 🙂
Marilena says
Excellent idea. I know you do not ship to Greece. Do the same regulations apply to the subscription box as well?
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
Unfortunately, yes. We are not able to ship to Greece =(
Marilena says
Thank you. Hope things will change someday and we will be able to enjoy your beautiful products. I can only find some of your fragrances here in Greece and I just love them.
Paula says
I would like to see for the first 12 months ” everything a girl could want in her makeUp bag” such as body butter bar, sugar scrub, make up, nail polish, lip balm, perfume etc.. so when the year is done we have made everything a crafty girl could want in her makeup bag.
Then for a special Christmas edition “12 days of Christmas” this would be all about special gifts to design and give to others.
The following year leading up to spring could be a special diy projects for crafts for the home like cleaning products and scented wax melts. To get ready for spring.
Anyways, that’s some of my ideas. Hope it helps 🙂
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
Wow. Wonderful ideas and themes. Thank you!

What a great idea, having read all the other comments I can’t think of a new project but do like the idea of mineral make up (following on fb)
kelila says
Would love to see either a project for lipbalms or lotions ! I wanted to make lotions but I don’t have the material here so it would be a great idea !
Amanda Levin says
What about some simple clay masks? Or mineral make up?? Sounds like a really fun project!!
Cathy says
wow there are some great ideas on here! I would love to see mineral makeup, cuticle cream (not oil) and products for home like candles, tarts, and garbage disposal fresheners. Oh and room sprays. Ok my house doesn’t stink- but I do live with two kids and two cats so the fresher the better!
And I liked you on FB with Cathy de Rivas
and Pinterest http://www.pinterest.com/tweeti
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
Garbage disposal freshener is a new one. I like it!
Jen K says
Mineral eye shadow, lip balm and sugar lip scrub would be cool.

I would love to make solid perfumes, whipped lotion, lipsticks, scented nail polish, spa supplies (face masks, etc.), and melt and pour soaps with pretty packaging. I’m following on Facebook and Pinterest with the name displayed here.
Valeri K. says
I would love to see lotion bars, bath truffles, and some melt and pour soap projects. I followed on all social media accounts.
aiko ruiz says
It would probably be good to send some supplies to make soap for men. I think a lot of people are hesitant to buy a large bulk to make a big loaf because they are unsure of the sales outcome. So if they are able to try and test it out first, people can see how well it does in the market.
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
Good idea. We won’t forget about the men!
Marleny says
I would love to see a lotion kit, face mask, nail polish.
Mia J. says
This sounds like a great subscription~ as a newbie I’d definitely be excited to try my hand at things to find out what I like making the most and what I’m good at making! I’d love to see bath bombs and facial masks in your boxes.

I would love to make lipstick and/or nail polish.
Dale says
Here are a few ideas 🙂
**Bath fizzies and bath bombs, perhaps some that could be shaped by hand so they look like snowballs (for a pre-holiday DIY box maybe?)
**How about a lotion which could be stored in a bottle until needed, and then could be mixed with water at time of use, to soak fingertips and soften cuticles before doing a manicure.
**An exfoliating scrub for the face, and a toner to sooth the skin afterward. Perhaps it could come with different essential oils for the toner, depending on whether it’s for oily or dry skin.
**A simple paper-making box with some organic elements (dry petals, herbs, leaves) to include in the paper, to make beautiful paper wrappers for soap or lotions.
Dale says
PS: I liked the new “Handmade Beauty” page on Facebook.

Pooja says
Maybe a project to make menthol/ pain relief balm, Mineral makeup kit, face mask ( lush type) , hair oil, would also love if you have a monthly CP soap subscription too:)
Michelle says
They have a CP soap club 🙂 If you act fast they still haven’t closed the summer subscription (it’s probably going to close soon since they will start shipping soon).
Here is the link https://www.brambleberry.com/Soap-Crafting-Club-Subscription-P5717.aspx This will be my second time and I love it!
Cynthia weems says
Well I am trying to consider simple and cute and something I would use, as a first timer I will say melt and pour, sugar scrub, lib balm or lip tint,i have yet to try making nail polish or lotion (which i am making tomorrow) but those seem real easy compared to cp or hot process soap 🙂 I find a lot of people that are not Soap Makers or don’t understand it get scared or shy away from lye. for for first timers small steps of awesome simple small projects would go well, and doing this is very fun that is where I got hooked and can’t go back! Unless my hands stop working from old age I will keep making all that I make now and more-ok I will stop now I get so excited when I talk, type or think about my projects or the next one 🙂
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
We get excited about projects too. Love it! Thank you for the suggestions =)
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
Oh, and I hope you had fun making lotion!

I voted on my favorite logo and added comments and rated every one of them.
As both a crafter and instructor, I would like to see a project that is not only easy ~but is safe (mistakes not being hazardous) A flavored lip balm would be challenging enough to give a sense of accomplishment and yet be fairly simple. Another beginning option would be a melt and pour soap that is unique and fun, something that could be shown off and give further exposure to the new project.
Will you possibly offer the chance for “levels” of boxes? Perhaps offering more complex projects for more experienced users?
Thank you
Debby says
This is a great idea! I’d love scrubs, lotions, and balms!
Debbie says
Love to see sugar scrubs, and lotions.
Elizabeth says
All of the projects you listed above are things I’ve been wanting to try – so far, I’ve just done cold process soap and body butter. The DIY project I most want to try next is a lotion, so that would be great!
I’m a member of the Soap Crafting Club, and have been having so much fun with the projects and all the interaction with other club members – will there be a place to share and help each other? I think that would be helpful for those of us who haven’t ever tried a project like whatever the project of the month is. 🙂
(I’m following on Facebook.)
Cynthia weems says
Yes i’d love to join a group of people that do DIY projects and help each other out, I have no other person in my area that I can talk to about my adventures that “gets it” lol
Courtney from Handmade Beauty Box says
Hi Elizabeth. We’re definitely on the same page. We would love Handmade Beauty Box members to be able to connect with each other and share their projects and project variations.
P.S. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the Soap Crafting Club =)

I’d love to see some cuticle cream variations. Something lightweight that absorbs fast and doesn’t leave your fingers greasy for half an hour.

what a good idea!

I know what you mean – great idea!
Dawn Lucero says
Some of these logos have typos in them. Instead of DIY they say DYI. 4th down on the left and then the circular ones to the right of that.
Jessica Pepper says
yep, I posted to them on FB about it too!
Sue says
Don’t know if this registered in the comments on the voting page, but several of the logos have a typo. Shouldn’t it be ‘DIY’ instead of ‘DYI?’
