Here’s a peek of my Mint Chocolate Chip swirls from yesterday. See the blog post HERE if you missed it. The soap is pretty soft at this point (Olive Oil, 5% superfat, no gel phase) but they were still easy to unmold from the ‘World’s Best’ Baltic Birchwood Mold. These “sweet” soaps will be ready to use in 4-6 weeks!
On a painfully sad note, there was a casualty during the unmolding process. I was so giddy and excited about my swirls that the soap just bobbled out of my hand. I guess this will be the “tester” soap. Sigh…poor little guy. He didn’t deserve this!
We’re having the Bramble Berry Bridge Building Contest today + BBQ Fundsday! I can’t wait to have a rematch and hopefully redeem myself (and my popsicle stick bridge building abilities).

  1. If people can love ugly dogs, they sure can love ugly soaps…besides, it’s not really ugly: it makes it look extra unique! 🙂

  2. Glad to know I’m not the only one who “bobbles” the soap sometimes!! 🙂 I’m sure they smell yummy!

  3. Yay! Welcome back. I love your positive spin. Yes, the soaps are made from the bottom of my heart so the swirls will stay inside the soap as well. =)

  4. Thanks =) It’s discoloring a bit as the days are going by because the fragrance discolors but I’m hoping the lines stay distinguishable.

  5. It’s very realistic mint smelling. The Chocolate is subtle, in a sophisticated way. Almost like an unsweetened Dutch cocoa powder, rather than a milk chocolate. =)

  6. We usually give it away to vendors and friends or if the soap is good enough to go on display at Otion, we’ll design a retail store display with it.

  7. Sadly it happens but it makes it possible for us to keep one in memory of the rest!

  8. Lovely mix of colors and great combination of mint and chocolate!!!

    Swirls MA-RA-VI-LLO-SSSSSOOOSSS!!!!

About the tester soap, it happened to me many times with the glycerine ones, at the begining I was upset, but then I took it as you say “a test”.

I always try to find the positive side of life, so from your experience I would like to say that your swirls are made from the bottom of your heart and they will stay inside the soap’s heart for sure.

Keep us updated when you try the “tester” soap in 4 weeks!!! I can’t wait!!!

  9. I like it – I think it gives it character – like someone took a big ol’ lick cos it looked and smelled so good!

  10. Great swirls! I can’t wait to get my hands on that baltic birchwood mold, lol. I’m just loving those drag lines ;D

  11. I love the color! So pretty and summery. What do you do with the test products? Just curious. 🙂
