Handmade soap is fun to make – and, to give and receive. If you make soap , it’s inspirational to see what techniques other soapers are creating. The Bramble Berry Soap Swap gives you a chance to share your soap with others, while receiving a variety of bars for yourself! Sound fun? Read on to learn all the details, including how to sign up (and, hurry, spaces are limited!). Sorry! We are all filled up for this Swap. If you sent an email we will reply to let you know for sure whether you are in the swap or not. Thanks for your enthusiasm and excitement!
The basic idea of the Soap Swap is you create ten 4 oz. bars of cold process soap using a Bramble Berry fragrance or essential oil. You then send these bars to us, and we swap the bars and send 10 unique bars from other soapers back to you! The swap is free; the only thing you pay for is shipping to get your box of unique soaps back to your doorstep. It’s a great way to smell new fragrances, get fun packaging ideas and be inspired by new design techniques.
The Soap Swap is one of our favorite events at Bramble Berry, and we know how much you love it too. The Spring 2015 swap is limited to 75 swappers. If you would like to participate, don’t wait to sign up as spots will fill up fast. If you try to order the item (see step 1 below) and the swap is full, don’t fret. We may have another Soap Swap later on during the year if demand is high.
Ready to get swapping? More specific details are below:
1. To sign up, pay for the return shipping of your soap by purchasing the ‘Magical Soap Swap Express’ on the Bramble Berry website. Unfortunately, this swap is not open to international residents. Once all the spots are full, the shipping will no longer be available for purchase.
2. Then, email with the fragrance or essential oil you would like to use. You must use a fragrance or essential oil that Bramble Berry currently sells. Because somebody may have already chosen your top fragrance choice, please include two other fragrance or essential oil selections.
NOTE: Blending fragrance or essential oils counts as a completely new fragrance, and does not count as two.
3. This Soap Swap is for cold process, or hot process soap only. There is no melt and pour soap option for this swap. You need to produce ten 4 oz. bars. It’s no fun sending full-sized bars and getting tiny ones in return!
4. Your soap must arrive to us by Monday, April 13th. Please plan in advance to make sure your soaps arrive to our warehouse by that date. You can send Swap boxes to:
Bramble Berry Inc.
C/O Soap Swap
2138 Humboldt Street
Bellingham, WA 98225
5. We will start packing boxes on April 14 and send out your Swap boxes by April 17th. You will receive a tracking number so you can track your box.
In addition, here are a few tips when packaging and sending your soap:
- Include contact info along with your soap on your packaging. This will help soapers who receive your soap to order from you in the future, or ask questions.
- Label your soap with the ingredients and fragrance used.
- Have fun!
We can’t wait to see your gorgeous soap! Happy Swapping!

I just got the email for the 2016 soap swap and an interested. I am about to make a purchase soon for some fragrance oils, how is it determined who can use what fragrance? If I purchase say 4 different FO’s before registration begins would I be able to use one of them?
Kelsey says
Hi Mary!
So glad you’re interested in the Soap Swap! It’s a lot of fun. 🙂
To participate in the Soap Swap, you can purchase the the return shipping (that’s a flat ground shipping fee). Then, you can email your fragrance choice to us. The fragrances people choose will be on a first come, first serve basis. We ask you to send several back up choices in case your fragrance is chosen.
So, you may be able to use one of the four fragrances you choose! I would recommend purchasing the shipping as soon as it’s on BrambleBerry.com, as spots fill up fast. Right now it’s scheduled to go live at noon PST on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd. 🙂

Vanessa says
Hello,
Im a little confused with the rules. I have to make a new batch of soap? What if i have some already made? I can only use ONE FO OR EO? Could it be 10 different 4 oz bars from different batches or the same batch? Im very interested in doing this. I will do it asap as soon as the rules are clearer. I do appreciate your time and you guys are awesome!
Kelsey says
Hi Vanessa!
You can make a new batch of soap, or use an already made one as long as it has the fragrance you chose! You can use just one fragrance or essential oil, or make a blend. The batch has to have 10 bars of the same soap, not soap from different batches. We’ll have the rules posted Wednesday when the swap is announced. Keep your eyes peeled on the blog and our Facebook page. 🙂

Hi! I was wondering if you’ll be doing a winter soap swap? I’ve been soaping for not quite a year and I’m just starting to get everything together and organized to sell, and my website/etsy store is finally in it’s beginning stages! I’m soooo wanting to try to participate in your next soap swap to get feedback from other experienced soapers! I love your site….so informational and fun!

We won’t be having another swap this year, but we are planning on having swaps next year. Those will be announced here and on our Facebook page, so keep your eyes peeled!

Will someone be posting a list of fragrences that have already been chosen? In years past it has worked very well for me and serves as a great reference following the swap. Ty j

I hope future swaps will be open to more people with some notification about when sign up will start.

Hi Michael!
Thanks so much for your suggestion. We limited the participants for this swap to help eliminate mistakes on our part and make things go more smoothly. But, we will definitely be having more swaps in the future. 🙂

Carly Lanners says
I sent an email as soon as I heard about it, and was sooo excited when I got the email back confirming I was in and had a spot! Imagine my surprise when I couldn’t buy the soap swap express when I placed my next order with Bramble Berry (all of two days later, I think). I emailed and asked about it, and now I’m being told that, since I didn’t run out and buy the soap swap express that instant, I can’t participate. Very very disappointed in how this particular swap is set up. I know you guys have a ton of other things going on, it just seems like this wasn’t fully thought out.
Kelsey says
Hi Carly!
I’m so sorry you are disappointed Carly. We decided to do 75 participants this year to help avoid any mistakes on our part. The great news is we will be having swaps in the future, so there will be more opportunities to participate.

Jenny Wren says

Kelsey says
Hi Ariella!
We will definitely be doing more swaps in the future! We chose to do 75 participants so there would be less chance of any errors. 🙂

Hi,
I tried to complete my order last night & it was still available…I had it in my cart, but for some reason it wouldn’t let me checkout. Now it says ‘The product is currently out of stock’.
Could someone please contact me?
Thank you and thank you for all of the awesome work you all do!!!
