Alfalfa is a perennial flowering plant that’s often used to feed livestock. For that reason, we paired our alfalfa powder with the new 6 Cavity Silicone Goat Mold to create these adorable bars. Of course, we used the Goat Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base, which contains 10% goat milk.
The alfalfa powder is first dispersed in 99% isopropyl alcohol to get rid of clumps. It’s then added to the melted base. It gives the bars a natural, subtle green color. To complement the green hue, the bars are scented with spearmint essential oil.

6 Cavity Goat Silicone Mold
20 oz. Goat Milk Melt & Pour Soap Base
0.3 oz. Spearmint Essential Oil
3 tsp. Alfalfa Powder
99% Isopropyl Alcohol in a Spray Bottle
ONE: Chop 20 oz. of Goat Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base into small, uniform cubes. Place them into a heat-safe container and melt in the microwave using 20-30 second bursts. Stir between each burst.
TWO: Mix 3 tsp. of alfalfa powder with a splash of 99% isopropyl alcohol. Use just enough alcohol to be able to stir in the powder and get rid of chunks – about 2 tablespoons. Mix the alcohol and powder together until the chunks are gone.
THREE: Add the alfalfa powder mixture to the melted soap base. Use a spoon to stir in the powder, making sure there are no chunks.
FOUR: Add 0.3 oz. of spearmint essential oil and use the spoon to thoroughly stir in.
FIVE: Pour the soap into the 6 Cavity Silicone Goat Mold. After each pour, spray the soap with 99% isopropyl alcohol to get rid of any bubbles. Allow the soap to fully cool and harden.
SIX: Remove the soaps from the mold. Cover in plastic wrap to prevent glycerin dew. Enjoy.

Can I use 1oz. Of alfalfa powder for half pound??
Terah with Bramble Berry says
Yes, you can use 1 oz Alfalfa Powder in 1/2 pound of soap. It may be just a teeny bit darker but it will still look nice.

Is there a substitute for using the 99% Isopropyl Alcohol to mix the powder with?
Chloe with Bramble Berry says
You can use oil but too much oil added to melt and pour can make the finished bars softer.

I don’t have the alfalfa powder. Can i use green clay instead?
Terah with Bramble Berry says
You can definitely use one of the green clays instead of alfalfa powder. It just may affect the final green color slightly.
