Hydrating Body Butter Sticks

If your skin is extremely dry, moisturizing products like body butter and lotion bars work wonders. These body butter sticks are made with a combination of nourishing avocado butter, sweet almond oil, and oat oil. Beeswax helps them harden and protects the skin. They are lightly scented with warm and inviting Cashmere Fragrance Oil. With notes of white magnolia and violet, it’s perfect for leave-on products.

Once mixed together, the recipe is poured into twist tubes. They’re easy to use – first ensure the clear cap at the top is in place, then secure it by twisting on the top firmly. Flip the tube over and pour the mixture into the hole in the bottom. Allow to cool and secure the bottom with the base.

Allow the body butter to cool and harden for several hours or up to overnight before removing the clear cap. If it’s removed too early, it could stick. When you’re ready to use, twist up the body butter and apply to dry skin.

To give the twist tubes a polished look that’s ready to give, download the Body Butter Stick Labels. It’s a free PDF that can be printed on label paper. The document includes both the black and gray versions, so you can choose the color combination you prefer.

    1. We purchase them from a vendor, they aren’t something we manufacture ourselves.

    1. As long as it doesn’t get too hot in your house it shouldn’t have any melting issues!

I love this recipe. I made the following substitution for my body stick: shea nilotica butter, cocoa butter, rice bran oil, almond oil. This has become one of my best selling products.

Would using cerra bellina instead of beeswax make the sticks too squashy for use in the tubes?

    1. Cera Bellina would make your product a little less firm, but you may like it that way. Do a small test batch and see what you think.

Just worked this kit with my 10 yr old special needs child. The instructions were easy enough to follow and we even noted it as a math activity due to the measurements. Lucky for me I had purchased a scale from Brambleberry years ago so we had that on hand. This will be gifts for her teachers, tutor & therapists for Yule.
    Thank you Brambleberry!

  4. Could I add some isopropyl myristate to this? Ive just been learning a bit about this product and wonder if it would help this not feel greasy?
Thank you, going to make some of these tonight!

    1. Isopropyl myristate is used to create a nice slip and help products to absorb quickly and easily into skin, and it does tend to add a bit of smoothness and glide. Do a small test batch and see if you like it better with the addition of isopropyl myristate or without it.

  5. I really want to try some of these recipes but they all yield a lot more product than what I am needing. What is the best way to go about making smaller batches? Should I just halve everything in the recipe? Please, if anyone has some tips, let me know. Thanks!

    1. Hi Jackie, for a recipe like this you are more than fine to just halve each of the ingredients in the recipe.

  6. Could I use Shea butter instead of avacado butter and up the almond oil instead of using oat oil? I love the idea of the sticks but would like to use products I always have on hand already.

    1. Yes those would be the best options for substituting if you don’t have Avocado Butter or Oat Oil on hand.

Hello lovely Brambleberry with your awesome ideas:) can I use another butter instead of Avocado:) maybe mango or cocoa? Or even half and half!
    Thanks a bunch ☺️

  8. I would like to try this. Is there a substitute for the Sweet Almond Oil? Can I use a different oil instead?

  9. Hello! I would like to make the hydrating body butter in tins instead of twist tubes. What adjustments do I need to make it “scoopable?”
