Do you have what it takes to Make It?  The Make It challenge is returning to the Soap Queen blog, and we wanted to bring it back with a bang (of fireworks, naturally!). This month’s challenge is all about the Fourth of July. This time, any bath and body product counts — scrubslotionsbath fizziescold processlip balmsmelt & pour and more! It is fun to start summer off with a challenge, and everyone in the office is waiting on pins and needles (fireworks and sparklers?) to see your best red, white and blue creations. Keep reading for the official rules, and then get to creating!

Fourth of July Challenge

The Mission (if you choose to accept it)

  • Create a unique item that follows the challenge’s theme. For this challenge, you can showcase anything that follows the Fourth of July theme. Cold process, melt and pour, lotions, scrubs, lip balms and home crafts are all allowed.
  • Post pictures of your themed product to Bramble Berry’s Facebook page between June 18th and July 1st.
  • Your entry  must include the designated hashtag “#4thofJuly” in the photo caption in order to be entered into the contest. Photos without #4thofJuly will not be considered.
  • You can make multiple projects, but we will only consider three  pictures per person.
  • At the end of the two weeks, Team Bramble Berry will pick our favorite items. The winners of the challenge will be featured in a  Soap Queen Blog post.

You have until Monday, July 1st to post your pictures! Remember to include the #4thofJuly hashtag.

  1. Anne-Marie, this challenge brings up a good question: What colorants do you recommend for brilliant red and brilliant blues in cold process. I have ultramarine blue and some blue LCs. I’m almost okay with my blues, but reds always leave something to be desired. I have red clays which are muted and Velvet Red LC but just don’t get the saturation for CP. Thanks.

    1. Hi Michelle!

Getting the perfect red can be kind of tricky, but Anne-Marie put together a great blend in this blog post with the Merlot Mica and Electric Bubblegum.

If you are looking for a bright blue, I’d try experimenting with different hue levels of the Ultramarine Blue or even try a blend of the Blue Mix LabColor with the Ultramarine Blue or Ultraviolet Blue.

    1. Hi Kimberly!

A hashtag is the # sign that is used across the internet on various social platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) to identify and link a persons post to a particular set of words. In this case, we want to make sure we are including all the entries, so we ask you to hashtag your photo that you post on Bramble Berry’s FB page with #4thofJuly. I hope this helps to explain it. =)

  2. Woohoo! Good thing my BB box is coming this Friday; I foresee lots of playing with soap this weekend! I already have three separate ideas…now to see if I can make them work…

  3. Only one thing is better than starting summer off with a challenge. That is testing my new BB mold and LabColors for this challenge; of course!

    1. Hi Michael!

We can’t wait to see how your challenge soaps turn out! I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for your posts. =)

      Happy Soaping!

P.S. Which mold did you just get?
