Johanna (see previous Johanna projects here and here and here) used heavy green paper to make the cute little antenna’s for the perfect finishing touch to this little soapy bug – you could also use furry pipe cleaners for the same effect.

Johanna used Lime LabColor with just a touch of Brilliant Blue LabColor to deepen the green. She dusted the bug with Heavy Gold Mica to make the details pop. The Cricket Mold (dicontinued) is one of Milky Way’s latest designs and it’s on sale for the month of June.

  1. *giggle* thanks, Joanna and Anne-Marie! Yeah, I think it’d be best to ask Packaging Diva. That was my one good idea of the week, and it’ll take me a while to recuperate from thinking. ;D

  2. Teresa, I LOVE that idea. Maybe you should guest blog? Actually, maybe I should ask Packaging Diva if she would guest blog on packaging since that’s her area of expertise? Hmmm …

  3. What a great thread to do, Rurality! I think thinking up the appropriate packaging is just as fun as making the soaps.

For this amazing grasshopper soap, for instance, one could package it in fake grass (like the kind that Easter egg baskets come with), or have a little box that is shaped like a cage?

  4. Hi Everyone –

Packaging would be a fun idea to work on. If BB sold packaging, I’d definitely be all over that one since I’d be working with it all the time. Maybe that’s another area for us to go into?

I don’t have any new videos of the flexible soap mold release … but I will. =) With the Alabama trip coming up tomorrow, I’m very busy planning for that.

The Soap Sunday soap *just* got cut a few days ago and it’s only okay. =( But, I’ll definitely take a photo … probably next week when I’m back from the Alabama Soap Conference.

And now, I’m off to our monthly management meeting. We’ll be covering Fall and Christmas fragrance plans. I can’t wait to tell you what we’ve got planned.

  5. oooh, I second “rurality”‘s request. Any new videos on the releasing soaps from your new flexible mold???? Also, did you take pictures of the soap from “Soap Sunday! June 1st? Those were interesting soaps, I would love to see photos of the cut bars.

  6. Really cute!

I have a hard time trying to figure out how to package things like that. (Hint, hint, hint, would love to see you do a post some time about how to package non-standard items like this!)
