Add our new herbs and extracts directly to your soaps and concoctions
to benefit from their unique properties. The oil soluble extracts (some are oil soluble, some are water soluble) can be used in balms too for an extra nourishing lotion bar, lip product or salve. The dried herbs can also be used as natural colorants, either as an oil infusion or some added directly to soap.

    I am new to using extracts and I am not sure if I am supposed to discount my water when using the liquid aloe extract? I just purchased it from Brambleberry and am not sure. Help! :@)

    • It’s typically such a small amount that you won’t need to discount but if you want to discount, yes, you would discount from your water amount. =)

  3. I know this is an older post but I’m just starting to experiment with extracts and more natural colorants. I plan to make a facial soap for people with more mature skin to help reduce inflammation, improve tone, soothe dryness, etc. Am I crazy to mix all of the following in my recipe: evening primrose oil, carrot seed essential oil, carrot extract, and yarrow flowers (considering infusing the olive oil with the yarrow..). Thoughts?

    • Hi Evie!

      That doesn’t sound crazy at all! We always encourage experimenting with your soap and those are all great skin-loving ingredients. If you are worried, I would suggest making a small batch and see how it turns out and go from there. =) Just make sure you use the safe usage rates!

  5. I have a M&P recipe that calls for lemon granules. Could I substitute the dried lemon peel powder or is not not the same thing? I LOVE your products!

    • Having not seen the recipe, it’s difficult to say for certain but I think you should definitely be able to sub that. I have no idea what lemon granules would be in general anyways if they weren’t dried lemon peel powder! =)

  6. Great goodness Anne-Marie! You make me wish I had a million bucks to play with all your fabulous products! A couple of these are coming to the rescue right now. Found the tutorial on how to infuse. Fantastic! I love how many natural products you keep introducing. Make me wish I was on your side of the country to check out Otion.

    • Yay! They are so much fun and really give a great opportunity to try all kinds of fun extracts without all the infusion work!

  8. Are we able to get these extracts at Otion? We’re making a trip to Bellingham on Saturday, and I’d love to pick some up these up for my lotion making! If you don’t have them in store, can I order them on line and pick them up in the store? I’m so excited about these extracts!
