Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend filled with fun and family. Now it’s back to work, reality and time to get started on our SMARTER goals for 2012. If you don’t have a SMARTER goal it’s not too late to make one. Set yourself up for success by making your goal Specific, Measurable, Agreed, Realistic, Time-Bound, Ethical and Recorded. THEN post your goal in the comments section to win the Crazy Sexy Diet Book. Bonus points if you join the Bramble Berry staff in a 21 day adventure cleanse starting January 16th (see original blog post on the Crazy Sexy Diet HERE) But, in a nutshell? No coffee, no alcohol, no sugar, no meat and no white flour. Think lots of fresh fruits and veggies, fresh juices and healthy, home-prepared food – read more in her ‘Manifesto’ here. You can buy the book here or check it out at your library to see what we’re getting into and, most importantly, to see if you’d like to join us! We’re looking at it like a giant healthy nutrition reboot. It’ll give us a good opportunity to get all of the bad stuff out of our diet in one fell swoop.

Don’t be scared to try the nutrition reboot with us. I can assure that you’ll be eating real food along with lots of fresh veggies, quinoa, wild rice and fresh veggie juices filled with micronutrients. As a new Mommy (8 months is still new right?), I need all the energy I can get so I’m excited about those healthy grains we get to eat. Check out these recipes that I can’t wait to try! I mean…you can still have hot chocolate and pudding on this cleanse  (it’s just a little unconventional). Bring it on!

Raw Chia Seed Pudding from Heal thful Sense

Ingredients:

1/4 cup chia seeds

1 cup vanilla almond milk

1/2 banana, mashed

1 tbsp. nut butter

cinnamon

 Instructions:

1.) Simply combine the chia seeds, almond milk, peanut butter and cinnamon in a medium bowl.  Mash 1/2 of a banana and stir it into the chia seed mixture.

2.) Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes.  Give it a good stir and then let sit for an additional 10 minutes (this is why it’s convenient to make the night before!).  You’ll notice that the chia seeds will form a gel.

Raw Vegan Hot Chocolate from  Queer Vegan Food

Ingredients:

1/4 cup soaked Chia Seeds

1 Tbs Cacao powder

1 tsp reishi mushroom powder

1 Tbs Cacao Paste (optional)

1 tsp Mesquite powder

1 tsp Maca powder

Pinch high-quality salt

8 drops stevia (or, to taste)

1/2 cup almond milk

1 tsp Vitamineral Green or other green powder (optional)

pinch of cayenne (optional)

Instructions:

1.) Toss all ingredients in a Vitamix or other blender. Mix until smooth.

2.) Meanwhile, heat up a pot of hot water. Add 2 cups hot water to the mixture and enjoy!

The Contest:

crazy sexyTell us your SMARTER goal (see above photo for explanation) in the comments below for  a chance to win the Crazy Sexy Diet Book. We’ll pick THREE winners to receive a copy of the Crazy Sexy Diet Book. And if you don’t win the book you can still do the 21 day cleanse with us (read about it here). C’mon, it’s only 21 days! We can do ANYTHING for 21 days! =)

You’ll have until January 4th to submit your SMARTER goals in the comments section of the blog.

Do you need to read more on SMART goals? Check out the post HERE. But, here’s a cheat sheet:

Not a SMART goal: “I want to lose weight”

SMART goal: “I will lose 6 pounds by April 30th, 2011 by working out 3 times per week, limiting alcohol to 3 glasses per week and by cutting out all refined sugars.”

Ready? C’mon, get crazy ‘n’ sexy with the Bramble Berry Team!
