P1020341Jamisen is so fun right now as he follows along great with books. We all love reading to him, even Grandpa who brought one of his favorite books from when he was a little boy. We are so pleased to see Jamisen’s neck strength continuing to strengthen as he gets older.

Jamisen July 2011

Grandma and Grandpa Faiola came up for a visit this weekend and he soooooo enjoyed their visit. Grandpa has a particularly low and resonant voice that really appealed to Jamisen during book reading time. Grandpa, in fact, spent much of his time on the floor with Jamisen – so much time that I propped pillows under his neck and head more than once to keep him comfy.

Jamisen is doing a lot of talking lately which we all find incredibly appealing and fun. He is just starting to find his louder sounds; up until this weekend, it was a lot of ‘a gooo!’ and ‘goo!’ and ‘ahhhhh!’ It was fantastic having my parents visit because they also did the bulk the cooking and cleaning. It was like taking a vacation in our own home. I hope that you had an equally lovely weekend filled with love, laughter and family.

  1. I loooove the pictures of Jamisen looking at the books! I swear that reading to my oldest son starting when he was 2 months old was what made me an early reader. I can see Jamisen also reading by the age of 2!

    1. I read to him in the womb too and yes, we started reading to him at about 2ish months too – just when he was able to focus and the like. He’s very good about switching his focus and his eyes to the different pages. It’s impressive. Then again, I can’t imagine not thinking ANYTHING he did wasn’t impressive. Ha ha =)

      1. Ooops, you know I meant “made HIM an early reader” not “me” 😉

With parents as brilliant as you and your hubby, Jamisen can’t help but be impressive in everything he does!

  2. This is such a neat way for you to keep record of what he is doing. I am not sure ,but I am sure there is a way that you can keep all of this for your records. My grandson loves to be read to. He always has , he is 3. Wow that does not seem possible. He is going to be an earlier reader. He knows all his letters, and the sounds they make.

    1. I know! I was thinking I should print out these blogs and paste them into his baby book or something … And yes, the time is going by super fast already. I’m amazed it’s almost been 3 months.

  3. I love the wrinkly forehead and intent gaze! Too cute!

Secondly, thanks for promoting family literacy. It is amazing how a few mintutes of reading a day makes a dramatic difference in a child’s life.

    1. We love reading to him so much. I’m a massive reader and even have finished a few books at the night feedings by downloading the Nook software to my phone! Ha ha … He’s a fun kid already; I’m very lucky that he’s interested in reading with us.

  4. He really couldn’t be any cuter! it’s cute how into the books he is. Wes used to love when I read Harry Potter… I think that’s mostly because I read it while pregnant.

your family is gorgeous and awesome!

    lots of love

    1. I read aloud and sang to Jamisen when he was in the womb too. I also told him, while he was in the womb, that he would be a great sleeper and so far, not so much but maybe one of these days! Ha ha =) I can’t wait to read Harry Potter to him but that’s probably a few years away …

    1. Kelley from Soapies Supplies sent it to me. I thought it was SO sweet of her and he’s just getting the hang of it. His neck still flops forward in a rather limp manner sometimes but he does really well in it most of the time.

    1. His attention span is getting long too. He happily listens to 5 or 6 books before getting tired of the activity right now. It’s so much fun. I can’t wait to introduce him to blocks!

    1. He does this coo-coo, gurgle-gurgle thing that is like a dove cooing but I can’t do it back to him. My husband can do it but when I try it, I sound like a strangled duck.

  5. Oh my goodness…he is getting cuter by the second!! What a doll!! You are so blessed!

    1. I know; every single day, I feel sincerely thankful and so grateful for all of my blessings with my family. I know that without their support (especially my parents and husband) that Bramble Berry would be nothing like you see today. I am so so lucky. And yes, Jamisen being adorable to boot is definitely icing on my cake! =)

  6. He’s adorable! I remember when my daughter was that age! She’s 12 now. By the way Soap Queen TV is my all time favorite!!!! I have learned so much from you on there.

    Thank you!!!

    1. They are super big aren’t they? I haven’t been around a lot of babies but his do seem particularly large and round and wide all the time =)

    1. It keeps him distracted long enough to get tummy time and not get frustrated at how difficult it is to hold his head off the ground. He’s an impatient one, my son =)

    1. Trust me, seeing them with him, I can’t wait to have grandchildren either! Ha ha =)
