Thanksgiving Place Settings, also known as “The Place Setting Project That Would Not End.”
This project started out looking easy and simple. Two hours later, I am the proud owner of 10 handmade gourd place settings for Thanksgiving. I suspect that my family will not appreciate the work these gourds took.
Making paper strips out of three fun Thanksgiving colors.
Three piles of soon-to-be baby gourds, just waiting to be formed.
I skipped documenting a step or two here involving stringing the strips of paper on a green wrapped cloth wire. It was hard to hold the camera and string paper on flimsy wire at the same time. My limited crafting skills only go so far.
Hand traced and cut leaves provide an ample space for names on place settings.
The final gourd pile, just waiting to direct happy eaters to their 5,000 calorie meal.

The men in my life were very underwhelmed by the paper gourds but the women appropriately oohed and ahhed. =)
Joanna, your cheesecake sounds amazing! I made a cranberry orange popover that tasted absolutely sinful and crackled with tartness.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all too!

Happy Thanksgiving. I am bloated….ate way too much turkey, stuffing and sweet potato casserole. I played around with a new recipe….pumpkin cheesecake with maple whipped cream. Woah. The homemade graham cracker crust was heaven. Whole thing from scratch, wow-makes all the difference! But now I am paying for it. Feeling fat….
Hope your big dinner was a blast, AM!
