I didn’t get your name but you rushed up to me after my last talk at the Soap Guild show, disappointed that you had missed all of my talks due to airline travel.
In a moment of empathy, I gave you both of my speeches, complete with handwritten notes and little pieces of paper stuck all akimbo for you to review.
I also gave you a self addressed envelope for you to send the speeches back. I remember distinctly telling you that I really needed the handwritten scribbles back because I would be giving the talk on Growing Your Business a few more times this year.
I leave in two weeks for my next speech. And, I still don’t have my copies back. It’s officially been one month, which is plenty of time to review the talks and return them.
Can you send them back, please? I’d really appreciate it. The people that have to listen to my speeches would benefit from all those little scribbled notes.
Love,
Anne-Marie

Your too funny Anne-Marie and kindhearted too. That picture is woth a thousand words.

If your post doesn’t get those notes back, I am sure that picture will! I LOVE it!!
Good luck, Anne-Marie!

Oh Wow, super late in commenting on this post but glad to see the new post above says your notes are in the mail. I’ll admit, I’m a scatter brain too, this is something I would do (nope, it wasn’t me). Seriously, Anne Marie doesn’t deserve to be called stupid for doing something generous. What is “stupid” is people mistaking NICE for STUPID 😉
Armi says
Hope you get your notes back in time for your next speech, Anne-Marie! You’re a nice and generous person and don’t deserve to be called stupid by anyone. That the person didn’t even print their name shows just what kind of person they are. There should be more people like you in the world who are kindhearted and just plain NICE. I say more power to you and hope you knock their socks off at your next speech!

Hi Christine –
I was in such a hurry that I totally didn’t think to grab anything but I’m sure that the speech will come back. This is just a good reminder.
I really believe that most people in this world are genuinely good people that want to help others – and I’m sure that I’ll get the speech back – maybe just a little late.
As for the comment branding me as “stupid,” I think that’s always the right thing to be generous and kindhearted as opposed to suspicious and miserly.
It certainly makes life much sweeter, missing speech notes and all. =)
Christine says
Oh goodness, I hope she sends them back right away! Did you not get her name & contact info when you handed them over? I would have gotten that when I gave her the self-addressed envelope. Mainly because I’m a spaz and would not notice how much time had slipped by before I mailed it back.
Fingers crossed that you’ll get them back soon!

I absolutly agree with Hevenly scent soaps. Anne-Marie did nothing stupid or wrong. If we all were more kind and trusting and open and giving like A-M maybe this world would be a better place.
Nor do I like the “should have” statement Anonymous said. I learned a long time ago to never should all over myself myself.

Hi:
I don’t agree with the last comment at all.
It is NEVER “stupid” to be kind to a person in need. Anne Marie felt this woman was kind and sincere. There is nothing wrong with the fact that she trusted this person, whether she gets her notes back or not.
Even IF she never gets the notes back, the info IS still in her head and the speech can be re-created. And, I’m betting it will be even better than before!

How stupid are you to give your notes away? You should have taken her address and sent her a copy.
Shame on you for blaming this woman for your error in judgement.
Maybe a future back up copy could be another lesson learned.

Ok ditto with all the comments, but can I just say? Is that you with a haircut? You look great! Super stylin’
Anne-Marie says
You guys are funny – thanks for the positive thoughts.
I am sure that she’ll see this and send them back and all will be well in the land of SpeechWriter’s Utopia.
=)

Yikes! I hope you get them back!!!
I stopped borrowing things from people for that very reason…I never remember to give them back. If she’s anything like me she’s not doing it to be a pain, she’s just a little scatterbrained.

Oh my…I hope this person reads your blog, still has your notes & self addressed envelope and ruuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnns to the post office!

Oh I just LOVE the look on Ann Marie’s face !!!!!!!!! Wow, if I were that lady I would send them back to her overnight Fedex !!! Ann Marie, you are too good of a person. I would have hunted her down and beat them out of her before I ever left, but then you are nicer than I am . Hope you get them.
Lynn says
I too hope she sends it all back soon. It was very gracious of you to lend them.
But I must tell you I really love the picture. If aimed at me it’d get me hustlling through my pile of papers and get it sent fast!
Anne-Marie says
Her flights had been delayed (poor thing) and she seemed absolutely sweet and sincere and adorable so I’m sure like Lori said, it’s just in her pile. I absolutely believe that it’s just a case of best-intentions-gone-awry through the craziness of scheduling.
I’m sure this will remind her though and I’ll get the paperwork back in flying record time. =))
LORI NOVA says
gosh i hope you get them back too. i’m sure *if* whoever “borrowed” them is like me, my valuable conference paperwork is still in a large pile in my office that i hope to get through soon!
by the way… i LOVED your talk at the conference. really motivated me! particularly to get better with goal setting and to do the things i fear most first each day. you are such an inspiration. if you don’t end up getting your notes back – i’m sure your next speech without them will be even better.
p.s. i love the pic!
Heather@Twin Birch says
oooh, that’s not good. I hope they get back to you in time! You are so generous to have handed them over, I am crossing my fingers that it all works out!!
Little Shadow Creations says
~Wow that’s rotten. BTW, if the conference was that important to her why didn’t she fly in a little earlier?
BathCake says
Oh that’s awful. I hope they find their way back home.
