Last weekend, my fabulous sister-in-law Cheriss, myself and a good friend, attended the twenty-Sixth Annual Tulip Festival in Mt. Vernon, Washington on bikes. It’s not an event to miss! The pictures turned out great but they just don’t give the magnitude of the event any justice. I guess it’s hard to capture 1,500 acres of colorful tulips in bloom.

Along with the beautiful weather, we enjoyed local food, music, art, shops and produce and we were joined by hundreds tourists from all over the country.

Here’s a field map if you live in the area and are interested in a jaw dropping experience. Better hurry, though! They’ve been in bloom for a couple of weeks and mother nature determines their schedule!

Order your own tulip bulbs from Skagit Valley here.

  1. Beautiful photos!! I love tulip time…they’re my favorite flowers đŸ™‚

  2. Carmen, Amazingly, tulips don’t really smell much so even with all the flowers, you just sort of smell … air.

Alex, supposedly they aren’t growing the flowers to sell the actual tulips but rather, the bulbs! The largest bulb seller in the US is located in Mt. Vernon and they grow all the tulips to harvest the bulbs out. We are so lucky that they give us all the splendor to look at before and during the bulb harvest.

  3. WOW, I can’t even imagine what that must smell like there! Breath- takingly beautiful, thanks for sharing:)

  4. I had no idea that there was anywhere in the US that was growing tulips on this sort of scale. I figured that it was all from Holland. These images are just awesome. It’s like being bathed in color! So who are they selling these flowers to?

  5. Gorgeous and you didn’t have to fly to Holland to look at these beautiful tulips!

  6. Absolutley gorgeous pictures….so glad that I stopped by.

I hope you will stop by and visit me. The May give away has started….and next week I will be blogging from Disney World.

  7. Beautiful! There’s a garden down I-5 aroubd Woodburn that is similiar. I don’t recall the names, but from the freeway all you see in tulips and later in the year they have irises. I love it!
