We love Washington State – the beautiful hiking is a side-effect of the large amounts of rainfall we have. My family came up for the weekend. We all piled into the car and drove an hour to Mt. Baker for some hiking (slipping and falling) in the snow.

This is me and my Dad, after hiking past an avalanche on Mt. Baker

Me, happy to be descending

My crazy husband swimming in a pond surrounded by snow!

My freezing husband shivering dry after his snow pond swim.

After the hike, we had a wonderful dinner at Milanos and took in a sold out Circus Show by the incredibly talented U & I Productions. We finished off a wonderful weekend by making beeswax candles. The Soap Queen blog will focus on our container candle trials this week.

  1. I’m very interested in your candle making venture. I have wanted to try it for a while and haven’t done it yet. Can’t wait to read your post.

  2. Thanks for noticing the shirt! It was a random happenstance but it is one of my favorite shirts right now.

My Dad and I had a great time hiking but an even better time making candles together. It turns out that he’s even more clumsy than I am! I’ll be posting about the candle project this upcoming week.

    =)

  3. BEAUTIFUL SCENERY!! Thanks for sharing. I notice the “I love cupcakes” shirt 😉

  4. Oh my~ I am a bit chilly now! What fun, my husband (a tad bit older 🙂 ) would to this day do the same thing. Also, the pic of you & your father is wonderful.
