This week we made two exciting announcements, including the winners of our S.M.A.R.T. Goals Post. Thanks again to everyone who shared their 2014 goals with us — we had such a fun time reading them.

The blueberry bath bar looks lovely, however I haven’t heard of palm free cold processed soap, and why omit palm?

Doesn’t the blueberry bar look amazing? Because Palm Oil contributes to the hardness of the bar along with lather, it is used in most soap making recipes.
Some prefer not to use Palm Oil in their soap because of sustainability issues. Palm oil is grown on vast plantations in Malaysia, Indonesia, and many other South Asian and African countries. Due to the growing demand for Palm Oil, more land is needed for oil palm trees and some plantations clear rainforest land to plant these trees, which can destroy habitats for animals in the area.
This issue is very important to us, and because of this our Palm Oil is only purchased from vendors who are members of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil, also known as the RSPO. If you’d like to learn more about Palm Oil sustainability and the RSPO, I recommend reading this blog post! š
