It’s my favorite time of year – goal setting, reflection and planning. If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know that I plan all year long and use tools like Mastermind Groups and Accountability Groups to help keep me on track. Despite external challenges last year, it was still a blessed year with love, laughter and joy. As I said in this blog post (My New Normal), “I’m not waiting around for the market to turn around to lay plans for my better future.” My better future involves all the intangible work-life balance things that are so difficult to master and even more difficult to practice regularly. This upcoming year, I will be focusing on business (as usual) but focusing even more on the underlying things that make me truly happy (family, friends, hobbies, community). For me, these things boil down to:

Often we forget the little guy, the SMB, in our discussions of the comings and goings of the Internet marketing industry. Sure there are times like this when a report surfaces talking about their issues and concerns but, for the most part, we like to talk about big brands and how they do the Internet marketing thing well or not so well.

Wow look at all of the readers who come out of the woodwork for a giveaway! haha
My goals are to use my Wii Fit more and just exercise more in general. Also to eat healthier, thankfully my husband is now on the same page as me!
Also to finish strong on my current project: http://www.crocheteveryday.blogspot.com
Hope you have fun in Saudi! I'm excited to see what Amber has to share!

My First goal is to only hang out with HAPPY people!
Second is not to pay attention to most of the financial news out there. (The people giving it are not HAPPY people!
Third-get my website finished and then Thank God everyday that I get to live in the most fabulous country in the world-America.

OldrHody, Wow! That's great that you lost that much weight on Weight Watchers. Keeping it off is a wonderful goal. And, the reading part of your goal sounds pretty great too.
Carrie, I agree with Mr. Ramsey – who you hang out with and what you read does completely affect you. Jack Canfield says that you are the sum of the 5 people you spend the most time with.
Outre Beauty Bistro, You totally can do it (the weight goal!) and the interaction with your kids will be worthwhile and rewarding once everyone gets used to it. =) You'll love blogging and interacting with your customer base more frequently. The more you are able to interact, the better the conversation gets.
Rian, I agree – the goals are so inspirational! You can completely double your business with some stringent planning and follow-through. I'd recommend the book 'The Answer' if your goal is to double. There is some great stuff about marketing, your Unique Selling Proposition and that kind of stuff in that book.
Crystal, Thanks! I'm glad you like the post. Family is so important and you will treasure this time with them when you look back at it (way more than you would eating out more!) =)
TeresaR, A manuscript?! How exciting! That is a very tangible goal and I can't wait to read your book when it's published.
RedGoddess, Eating healthier is huge for energy levels. You will have extra energy to work on your finances when you continue to eat healthy throughout the year.
JoAnn, I love your goals! My husband loves salt scrubs on his feet so that's how I try to be a better wife to my awesome husband! =) When you start to use your gym membership, make sure you take advantage of the aerobic type classes. The music always leaves me feeling totally energized and happy.
Ayesha – Yesss! Conquering in 2010 sounds awesome! Vitamin D3 is so important – make sure to take it with extra oil. Apparently, it absorbs better that way. I've done two triathalons and they really whip you into shape!
Miranda, A fondue dinner sounds great! And, landscaping your yard will pay dividends for years to come. And, once you're done with the 5K with your hubby, you can host a celebratory fondue dinner again =))
Ria, I agree – it is a wonderful time of year, isn't it? Focused Balance is me too. It is so hard to focus on being balanced at home when work and the economy was pressing (at least for me!). My family had a Wednesday night Family Night and it was wonderful looking back on it (I was totally irritated about it when I was a teen but now realize it was a gift). Teaching your kids about goals early on is a wonderful idea since goal setting and keeping is a practice that takes some getting used to. Here's to a very balanced 2010 for you (and me!)
Kelly, Eek, I hate that. I always "Select All" and "Copy" my longer comments to my clipboard just in case.
Lori – You're going to love the walking time and you'll be surprised at how that quiet time will help to move your business along (at least, that's my experience!) =)
LittleGemsbyKari, Better records is a good thing and the IRS likes that too. My craft room is always a work in progress too. It's a great idea to work on being more organized in 2010.
Rebecca, Wow – yes, that is a life changing decision! That is very exciting. Congratulations on that. You are going to love your new experience, making new friends and be inspired to create new soaps =) I'll go check out your blog now.
And right now, I should also finish my blog for the day and get that posted so I can make it home by 7 p.m. tonight! =) More later …

I think this has been the hardest January I've had, as I have to (and want to) wait on some outside news before I can plan–there are two wildly different options for the year to come. I'm ready for either option, but it'd difficult to plan in the meantime. Your post reminded me, though, that in the last year I didn't achieve most of my resolutions, and that sometimes, a small goal is really a big one.
So, I resolve to get 2.5 more hours of sleep each week for the next year. That's 30 minutes a day on "school nights" that I'm going to snag to ensure that I get enough recharging time, and to ensure that the awake time I do have can be better spent on all of the things I want to do. I think I'll be more cheerful, healthier, and more efficient, which should really mean that I'll have more time to do what I want to do.
Happy New Year!
Hallie

This may not be much of a new year's resolution for most sensible people, but for me, it is:
stick to the diabetes diet so I can be around and healthy to care for my beloved little cat.
The medication is making me feel better already and I am also losing some weight, but dieting is entirely new to me (the illness was diagnosed only 2 months ago, and I never was all that fat…), and I find it extremely hard to resist the temptation of sweet and floury food, especially the Christmas cookies made me weep.
I will also start exercising as soon as my weakened heart allows.
As a compensation for the lost culinary joys I am starting to make delicious cosmetics and soap. That way, I can work in the kitchen but nobody has to eat it 😉
All the best to all of you out there, and I wish you strength to stick to your resolutions too.
Talitha says
my main one is to take in less information. I live in constant analysis paralysis and need to spend a little more time just breathing and letting things play out.
so overall, more quiet moments – less chaos in my own head.
Susan Barclay-Nichols says
These are my thoughts for the first four months of 2010 – who knows what'll happen after that!!!
1. I want to work on my math work for at least 1/2 an hour each day and finish with an A by March. (It's hard to tear myself away from the chemistry!) I will be registered for organic chemistry by April and start the course in May.
2. I want to use my cloth shopping bags more, and I will make sure there are 2 in my car at all times.
3. I want to keep the car cleaner, ensuring there is always a garbage bag and recycling bag on the go! 4. I need to get my work paper work done (with my expenses) by putting aside 4 hours every two weeks to get it done!
5. I will apply for at least four grants for my youth groups (I can't afford out of pocket for much longer) by the end of April. This requires me to get the data together (attendance, spreadsheet, letters from community partners) and update the proposal!
Well, that's me until the end of April! Hope everyone enjoys achieving their goals this year!
Anne-Marie says
di Palermo, Being more fit is a great goal that will pay dividends with your energy levels.
Crazy Bird, I have a friend that stretches every day and then forces her face into a big big grin and keeps it there for a few minutes to start her day off right.
Soap By The Slice, You'll love planning once you get into the habit of it. It's a wonderful panacea for the day/weeks' stressors. And kudos for deciding to act NOW instead of waiting around. Action is key to achieving your goals and baby steps count as action just as much as giant leaps.
Jennie, The dirty dishes one is a great one. I'm guilty of not cleaning the kitchen before bed often times. And starting and ending your day off with quiet contemplation through prayer is sure to be a wonderful balm for keeping calm and focused throughout the year.
Jacquelyn, A creativity goal is an excellent idea. You will be amazed at what you learn and how you grow in the next year through your journaling and creativity goal. It sounds like a fun year.
Lynn, I'm looking forward to hearing where you're traveling and what you're learning. And for weight loss, I'm checking out Big Pink Cookie:
http://www.bigpinkcookie.com/2010/01/01/5-in-10-my-weight-loss-goal/
She has a fun "5 in 10" goal – to lose 5 months per month in 2010. You might go check it out for moral support during this year.
Amanda, Yikes, organization is such a hard one! I don't have a newborn and I struggle with it as well so I can't imagine how difficult it must be for you. Take it slow, in bite-sized manageable chunks, so you can stay motivated. And scrabooking is fun so I'm betting that one is easy for you =)
Lisa, Working out and eating right is key to running a busy life and not being exhausted and crabby by it. This year, I want to try a few new sports because it's really easy for me to get caught in workout ruts and do the same thing (treadmill, treadmill, treadmill!) =)
Charity, I love it! More fun is just what we should all be trying to do.
Anne, You'll love QB. It's so easy to use and your employees (when you get them to do your bookkeeping) will thank you.
The crafty monthly project is a theme. Talk about adding more fun to your life – this would do it!
Salome, The self-talk one is big. Stephen Covey suggests doing that same goal about monitoring what you're telling yourself and it's a big one to tackle. Good job.
For the Physical, I LOVE Women's Health Magazine and Fitness Magazine. I tear out one of those workouts and do the new ones (like a dork at the gym with my paperwork) every month to keep things fresh.
And on that note, my husband is telling me it's time to hit the gym! So, I'll keep reading and commenting more later tonight.
XXOO to you all =)

1) work smarter and not harder. easier said than done.
2) be proactive and not reactive
3) streamline processes
4) get radical about keeping my contributions promises. Maybe radical sowing will bring radical reaping.
5) declutter. i am a rabid ratholing packrat that has taken the post consumer packaging, eco friendly thing just a tad too far.
6) take the space otherwise used for post consumer packaging materials and turn THAT into my studio so my family can have a life and I can have peace and we can all eat on the kitchen table again. 🙂 (anyone else know what I mean lol?)
Anne-Marie, i have noticed that you have already implemented your first two goals. We will live and I am sure Chris is totally enjoying the pleasure of your company more! lol!

2009 was huge in that my hobby morphed into a business.
I spent years in the business world and yet I find it hard to make the mental leap that it takes to think of myself as a business woman. As of 12:01 am 2010… make that leap!
Kiptivio says
I have to say that I am glad that 2009 is over…. I'm looking forward to a fresh start in 2010.
My goals for this year are simple:
1) Spend more time with family – including some one-on-one time with hubby and each of my boys…. they all deserve to have that special "just me" time.
2) Take some time for myself. This is hard for me to do.. with work (in a job where I care for other people) and family obligations… it's sometimes hard for me to take time to do things for me. I usually tend to feel guilty, but this year I've decided that I NEED to take some time for me so that I can be rested and useful to others.
3) To learn something new – most likely how to make CP soap.. It's something I've been wanting to do for a while… and I've been amassing all of the SQ tutorials and recipes that I could find, and really studying them. This year I'll make my 1st batch of CP soap! =o)
Best wishes to everyone for the coming year!
Two Rivers Soap Company says
For my business I plan to focus on soap and eliminate most of my other products.
I also want to spend more quality time with my family.
Karin says
I enjoyed reading your resolutions for the new year. I, too, have started eating more fruits and veggies (since I conduct health interviews for our state as my day job, I vouch for the importance). I've also joined a "girls night out" to become more involved with professional women in the community. I've gotten much enjoyment from some of the fundraising and volunteering I've done over the past year, and will become more involved this year. Much of the volunteering I do benefits youth in crisis, which I feel is very important. I donate quite a substantial amount of product to various causes and organizations, and will continue to do so. My business is mostly about relieving my stress, so as long as my costs are covered and I have a little extra to show for my efforts, I feel free to give. I do need to do a better job of keeping on top of organizational tasks around the house, so that is perhaps my most difficult goal. Good luck to us all in achieving our goals!
Sandy in Sequim says
I resolve to:
1) Spend more quality time with family.
2) De-clutter my house and keep it that way.
3) Spend less time on the internet and more time on productive activities.
4) Experiment with new formulas and introduce a few new items to my bath and body business.
Brigette says
I have many goals for 2010 but some of my main ones are as follows:
1) Lose 100 lbs. I will do this by eating better, getting exercise, and attending Weight Watcher meetings.
2) Be more diligent about using Social Media including my blog, twitter, Facebook, etc…
3) Update my website at least once a week.
4) Clean and organize both my home and work offices and address all paperwork within the next 90 days (there is a lot of piles).
5) Read more books. At least 1 book a month.
6) Spend more time with my family. Plan at least 1 activity a month to spend time with my family doing something other than eating out.
Those are some of my main ones for now. Thanks for providing a venue to share our goals.

My life has changed rather drastically in the last few months and I've made the life-changing decision to move to another country and start work on my PhD in linguistics this year. I've listed most of my personal goals on my blog but here's one more you all might appreciate:
-I resolve to make time to continue soaping as a relaxing, creative outlet to help balance the stress of adjusting to life in a new country and getting back into poor student mode. The fruits of my labor may even help me make some new friends!
LittleGemsbyKari says
great goals everyone!
Business related- I resolve to keep better records this year of what I spend and how.
Physically- to be more inventive with healthy foods to try to eat them more often (just discovered yummy soy beans)
Craftily- to further organize my craft room. started in 2009 but could do more.
Good Luck everyone!
Lori Summers says
In 2010, I resolve to get more organized and get my business up and going. I plan to start with my candles and I plan to learn more about soaps and continue my trek into the wonderful world of soaping and my realistic plan is to get soaps added to my line by the end of the year, although I hope I can do it before that. I also plan to put aside my fears and actually go out there and sell my product and get it put in shops as well as hold some open houses.
I also resolve to eat better and start getting more exercise. Now that my daughter is almost 7 months old, I want to go for more walks.

that is crazy; i just poured my little heart out and it did not post.

Ria says
This is one of my favorite times of year. Being able to read everyone's goals helps to stay on track and realize we all at times struggle.
2009's theme was Organize. This year's theme is Focused Balance. Like many, I, at times find it difficult to balance a full time job, a business, and family. In reflecting over the past year, I found that it was difficult to accept that not all goals were achieved to the satisfaction that I had wanted.
In reviewing why they were not, I found that I actually was not allowing myself to be grateful for all that I had achieved, and that I did not plan for when life just happens. All of which I am grateful for because I was able to get a new appreciation for the concept of backing up and reassessing.
Therefore moving into 2010, I will focus on the balance between my full-time job, my business, and my family with more emphasis on my business and family. Both of which will be greater achieved through more effective scheduling.
In 2010, I will do the following-
Dedicate Friday evenings to family time. No phone, no computer, no working.
Start teaching the boys how to set goals and help them to work on that throughout the year.
Schedule all vacation time for the year from the full time job and not feel guilty.
I will attend at least one out of town business function, this is actually already scheduled.
I will remember that there is only 24 hours in a day of which, I need 7 hours of that to sleep, 2 hours for kids homework, 1 hour for dinner – we eat dinner as a family every night, 10 hour work day, which leaves 4 hours a day during the week for my business.
Obviously, there are more goals behind the scenes but these are the major one's that I will stay focused on so that I will remain grateful for what I have accomplished.
Miranda says
I have a list of the 10 things I want to do in 2010, here are a few:
1) Try one new recipie each week
2) Host a fondue dinner (Happening Jan 8/10 & SO excited)
3) Landscape our yard
4) Run 450km's this year
5) Run a 5K with my hubby
Happy New Year!!
Ayesha from Mosaic Soaps says
Ayesha to conquer in 2010:
I wear many hats: mother, wife, public health grad student for the last 7 years (finally graduating in May!), friend, entrepreneur, and now I'm building a non-profit organization to create health and wellness workshops in faith-based communities. My goals are in accordance to those roles.
But what is transient between any of these roles is making time for myself, to nurture my soul and body.
I plan to take Vitamin D-3 regularly, continue my ashtanga yoga practice, reflect and write more, train for a triathlon, and take greater risks in my soap biz! Each fulfills a greater purpose for me. 🙂
Long post…happy new year everyone!
Joann says
Lots of goals this year
1. Lose 50 pounds by eating better and utilizing my gym membership.
2. try at least 5 new soap recipes instead of the same old stand bys
3. Quilt more.
4. Be a better wife to my awesome husband.
5. Stop whining or complaining and just be happy with the things I am blessed with
6. Become more tech savvy

Your goals are admirable and realistic. Good luck in the New Year.
My goal is to eat healthier and resolve my financial situation. Good luck to me too!
TeresaR says
I'm still mulling over this. 🙂 I really like Jenni's idea of incorporating more "green" into her biz. I had thought about that too.
The two things on the top of my head are:
1) exercise regularly…I try, but slip all the time on this.
2) finally finish up a manuscript that I penned during a previous (2009, in this case) National Novel Writing Month.
Good luck with yours, A-M!

What a great post! My main goal for this year is to visit my family on the east coast a minimum of three times. We went almost a year and a half without seeing eachother and a recent visit made me realize how important it is for my kids to see their grandparents more often. So whether it means eating out less or working more hours, we WILL see eachother more this year.
Rian says
It's inspirational to read everyone's comments!
I plan on doubling my business this year. Being self-employed is hard, but it can be done, here I come recession or not. 😉
Outre Beauty Bistro says
Well Ann-Marie, I must say that you are a major force in motivating me to make the changes for 2010 both personally and professionally.
My goals are this:
Personal: I resolve to live in the moment.
My husband and I resolve to turn of the TV at least three nights per week and interact with each other and our children.
I resolve to be diligent with my workouts and to finish my weight loss goal…the last 20 pounds of the 60 pounds I have lost.
I resolve to stay optimistic. Right now, I have a brain tumor (non-cancerous) and am awaiting the results of a breast biopsy. I could let all of this shut me down, but I refuse to do so. My business is critical now more than ever to pay for my health insurance. (I lost my insurance as of Jan 1, and now am on Cobra).
Professionally: I reslove to be organized and schedule my year in a yearly planner. (I have done this already 🙂 Each holiday/event/show is planned out in detail. Product lines, etc. are scheduled with release dates, etc.
I reslove to focus on my blog this year, and write in it everyday. I now have a phone that allows me to do this, so no more excuses.
Well that about wraps it up! It's a lot, but these are all things I can attain. And I will!
Carrie says
I am still formulating my list…but one thing that I have gotten from Dave Ramsey is that Who you are this time next year will be influenced by the people you are around and the books you read. So one of my goals is to read 36 books….some of these will be fun reads, some will be school things for teaching my children, but some will be for my overall well being, whether that be health or pursuing a dream or reducing debt, etc…and I hope that I am very different because of those books and the people I hang around…

I lost 30 pounds with Weight Watchers in 2009. I resolve to keep it off and to work out twice a week in 2010.
I also resolve to get our company website up and running by mid-March.
Oh, yes, and keep making soap and learn to make more products.
And to continue to read Anne-Marie for inspiration.

2009 was a year of falling down. 2010 will be the year of getting back up and moving on.
My goal is to have a CAREER instead of a JOB. No more punching a time clock!
My goal is to get to know my children as beautiful individuals instead of as tiny people who make messes.
My goal is eat healthier, be more active and let the weight yo-yo handle itself. No more diets!
And last but not least, my goal is to focus on the positives of being a single mother instead of the negatives.
Let the New Year be joyous to us all!!
Salome says
Thank you for posting this prompt!
Here are my primary goals in three areas of my life for the year.
1. Personal/spiritual – Pay attention to my self talk, being diligent to challenge erroneous thinking and replace those thoughts with Truth. Three days a week, I will write down my thoughts and the Truth that will set me free.
2. Physical – Revamp my work out with specific measurable, attainable goals. I will lose 15 pounds by April 15, 2010 by engaging in enjoyable challenging exercise 4 days a week and eating healthful meals on a regular schedule.
3. Business/career – I will adopt and adhere to my planning system by writing down my plans and goals in a specific place and be accountable for the outcomes, to myself and my accountability partners. Specifically, I will plan my Spring product sales and will develop one vendor for my products by January 30, 2010.

Happy New Year! I have been thinkinbg a lot about my goals for 2010… Here are the top contenders:
1. Incorporate QuickBooks for accounting and payroll. My slew of spreadsheets are no longer effective as my business (blessedly) grows.
2. Complete at least one new crafty project per month. It might be weaving a basket, soap making, or any of the many other yet-untried projects in my craft file.
3. Complete one "big" housekeeping project per month. Giving the guest bathroom a new look and setting up the spare bedroom as my craft room/home office are definately at the top of this list!
Wishing you a happy and prosperous New Year…

I am setting a goal to have more fun! We spend a lot of time taking care of things that we think have to be done, and very little time on the fun stuff. So this year, I am going to have more fun!!!!

Happy New Year, Anne-Marie! I think I need to put some of your resolutions in my column because the eating and exercise are definitely on my list. I also resolve to get better organization for my business than I currently have. Good luck with your resolutions and I hope both of us have a very prosperous year!
Amanda (Lauber) Strupp says
I have to say, the start of a new year is my favorite time also… so many chances to start over with things. My resolutions are:
1. Get my Soap & Body Product Company started
2. Get my house completely cleaned and organized by the end of the year (seems like a long time, but when you own 2 businesses and have a baby, things take a lot longer)
3. Get my daughters first year scrapbook done by the end of 2010 (she'll be 1 in June).
I hope that everyone is successful with their resolutions!
Lynn in Seattle says
Here's mine:
1. Love myself as I am while I;
a. exercise more to lose weight,
b. stop whining so much about my extreme hot flashes and night sweats.
2. Travel as much as I can
3. Learn things (about self, soap, the world, etc.)
Jacquelyn says
My main shop goal for 2010 is to take my folder of ideas for products and work/make/develop one of them each month. I will teach a soapmaking class at least once every other month. (I love to do this and the participants are energizing!)
Besides phoning Mom regularly,I will visit her at least every 3 months.
I will make a list of the steps and time-line needed to reach my goals and review it along with my daily journalling.
Happy New Year Everyone!
jennie w. says
1. Leave no dirty dishes in the sink when I go to bed.
2. Pray twice a day.

Soap By The Slice says
I have a few goals for the year, but I have a new goal this year. TO PLAN! I have learnt from you Anne-Marie, that planning is so very important. I always used to 'plan in my head'. But that's difficlut to refer back to, and impossible to follow. As a result, I've had more business failures than I care to mention! So I'm sick to death of messing about and not being a success. This is the year that my business gets up off it's fat rear and starts walking. Next year it'll be running, and 2012 it'll be flying. But without planning, I cannot see how this will be achieved. I'm not content with being super excited about a few £5 sales per month. That's not good enough anymore.
Another thing (kindda involved with planning) is the whole 'New Normal' concept. I LOVED that post! It could have been about me! I've always said 'When my baby's old enough ….' or 'When my son starts school …' and 'When I have enough time ….'. Well, enough is enough. If I wanna do it, the time is now. I must make it happen. It's down to me, and nobody's going to hand it to me on a platter.
So! Those are my two main goals: To plan, and to get on and do what needs to be done!
Happy New Year everyone!!

Suji, Thanks for being the first to put yourself out on a limb and post. You will go back to school? Awesome! In what? That is very exciting. I love your focus on your partner too; that is such a great investment.
Bella Baths, Organization is huge! I worked on that for years and this year, my desk has been way cleaner. It makes a difference!
Amy, You are so right that focusing can definitely make a big difference. Get narrow, get successful and then widen your area of business – brilliant!
Wan2bCrafty, You are going to love MP. I can't wait to see your photos. You will share, won't you?
Jenni, Last year, one of my goals was to never use plastic or paper bags and I ended up only using 4-5 paper/plastic bags the ENTIRE year through all my grocery shopping. That's a great goal – congrats on going towards zero waste.
Maria, Yeah, the guy is awfully cute (I think! But, then again, I am biased….) =) I love your SMART goals and can't wait for you to hit your goal. I like that you incorporated travel into those.
Randi – A marathon! You go!! That is awesome! The 10 pounds and the marathon will go hand in hand =)
Bella – Balancing your books via computer is freeing. You will love it. Though setting it up seems daunting at first, it is worth it.
TwinBuzzle, Twin Toddlers? Really? I had no idea! Fun but yes, busy. The husband goal is a wonderful one – and as I said earlier, a worthwhile investment. And health, you are totally on the right track with your goals.
Cheryl, Wow! I love the idea of a Myrtle Beach rental/vacay house. It sounds blissful.
Thien-Kim – Something creative every day? Wonderful! There are so many fun things that you can try.
Leah, Aw, that is wonderful! You will love this journey with your husband.
Charity, Thanks for the pep talk. I can't wait to try it. And guitar sounds fab. I've never learned it but always been jealous of those that play it around a campfire.
Willa, Great goal!
Dalene, Liquid Soap is super easy. Similar to HP Crockpot soap. You'll love it.
Donna Maria, I love your goal – you are going to enjoy having more friends over. And, the home cooked meal? Fabulous too.
Lisa, A great goal!
Meaghan, Your daily commute sounds long! Wow. I'm impressed. And the cleaning service sounds like a dream!
Alizabeth, Focus is key for getting your goals done. This is a great mindset to have.
Amy, The spirituality is a big focus in some of my goals and affirmations this year too. I have about 25 goals for the year and spirituality is definitely in there.
Cassandra – The organization is so key to a fulfilled business life. And, I like the multi tasking less goal. I should add that to my goals too! I'm horrible with multi tasking too much.
Gail – Belly dance! Fun! I love that idea – talk about harnessing joy and laughter.
Soapy Hollow – It is always better late than never for the baby weight. You will love gym time for sanity but in terms of keeping weight off, I've noticed that it's really all about the food that you put into your mouth that makes all the weight difference (in my humble opinion).
Firefly, I'm all over it. Headed to your blog next.
RoseValley, Love the idea of not stressing out and being more organized.
RoseValley says
My goal is to stop and smell the roses. Rather than stress out and cram way too much into my crazy life, I am going to slow down, do what I can, and let everything else fall into place. Part of that is being more organized, the other part is knowing that what doesn't get done, usually wasn't all that important to begin with.
Happy New YEAR!!
firefly says
Good luck on your goals! Check mine on my blog.
Soapy Hollow says
I resolve to finally lose the baby weight…6 years after the baby. 😉 To do this, I will cook healthier meals for the whole family, I will visit the gym at least 5 times a week, and I will remember that I'm doing this so that I'm healthy enough to see the boy give me grandchildren, after he graduates from MIT as a astrophysicist or Jedi, depending on which idea he holds onto the longest. 😉
Gail says
My resolution is to eat better, belly dance more, and expand my online business. Here's to all of us keeping our resolutions and having a great 2010!
Cassandra B. says
1. Be organized, get back into the daily habit. (Day-planner and calender already on the way!!)
2. Reconnect. Life is busy and many people have been left in the dust.(I have to call my sister and laugh atleast once a week)
3. Stress less. Remind my self that if it is not going to matter in six months or a year that it is really not that important.
4. Remember inspiration.
And 4. Oddly enough, my goal is to multi-task less, not more, and hopefully get more done in the process.
Amy W says
My resolutions for 2010 have to do with maintaining the course already in place. For instance, I'm graduating in May, and will have reached several goals in the process. It's a resolution of mine to finish well and keep focused on what's important.
I also am resolved to grow spiritually, and commit myself to spending times doing things other than school and work. (Everyone says I work too much. I love it, but I know this is a drain on loved ones.)
Take care and have a blessed New Year! I love reading about all of the workout success and your young business posts. Very interesting, so I hope that you will keep up the great work.
Alizabeth says
I am resolving this year to have more focus. I haven't felt focused and motivated in the past and want to gear up for great things. Thanks!
Meaghan says
For myself:
Ramp up exercise intensity as my health improves (end goal: return to full strength, 42km work commute daily by bike).
Be patient with myself regarding my limitations (this will be the most difficult).
Find a really good PA, and turn over majority of administration.
Engage a cleaning service.
At least 100 hrs flying time.
As a couple: Continue weekly date nights. Max out our savings contributions by end of fiscal. Maintain our monthly meal plans, moving to three vegan meals per week. Try one tech free night per week. Increase time with our chosen charities. Host monthly games night with friends.
Lisa says
My biggest goal is to find a job!

I normally don't do resolutions, but this year I did, complete with milestones and target dates! 🙂

Mine last year was to start a family with my husband, and as I type this, I am 5 days overdue. 🙂 My #1 most important goal this year is to be the BEST mom I can be.

My goal is to do something creative everyday. I mean creative inthe general sense. I joined the Creative Everyday 2010 challenge to help me stay on track!
Cheryl Ann says
One of my goals this year is to buy a rental house at Myrtle Beach, SC so I can go ANYTIME I want (and my family and friends!) That may sound materialist, but there are many things that will have to happen in the background. I think I can do it! Having such a tangible goal brings all my other goals into focus. I plan on making a daily, weekly, monthly and annual plan to lock in all the specifics that will cumulate in my dream goal for 2010!
twinbuzzle says
my goals for 2010 are:
1) to spend more quality time with my husband:) we have twin toddler boys…and somedays I hardly can fit in a peck on the cheek. sad but true.
2) streamline my business, including sprucing up my logo & branding design/packaging. better bookkeeping too!
3) take time for myself!!! my health & sanity have been feeling the strain this past year. I resolve to get a massage and or/reflexology session once a month. exercise of some sort 3 times a week, perhaps pilates & yoga, or walking.
i am going to focus on these goals and write them down in clear and consise detail…so i know where I'm going!
happy new year A-M and all:)
Bella Luna/Shannon says
One of my goals is to bring my bookkeeping method to the electronic age – tracking everything manually is for the birds!
Randi Lyn A. says
I'll list 3:
1. Train for and run my first marathon.
2. Lose 10 pounds.
3. Finish complete redesign of my website.
Maria Marsala, Business Speaker says
Well, I finally get to see a picture of that guy of yours 🙂
I find that the best way to write goals are SMART of course 😉 numbers and dates.
My biggest goal for my business is to speak twice a week for payment and travel around the USA and Canada by March 2010
Meaning that by March, I'll have hit the mark and be doing it every week afterwards.
Currently have 7 paid engagement; so I need 17 more to reach my March goal.
Jenni ~ says
My 2010 goal is to make reusable bags for shows and work just a little bit harder at being a little bit greener. Repurposing bubblewrap or if I have to purchase some only to use recycleable biodegradable packaging when I can't repurpose some. Inching my way towards zero waste.
Donna DeRosa says
I resolve to teach young people my craft. I taught a friend's daughter how to make M&P soap and we all had a blast. She has asked me to teach her girl scout troup and I can't wait. They'll earn a badge, have fun, and hopefully pick up a craft they can continue to enjoy.
wan2bcrafty says
I resolve to practice my M&P soapmaking, and work on turning it from being crafty to an art (a-la PJ and Soapylove). I also resolve to spend more time with my sisters…
Amy says
My resolution for the year is to bring a more narrow focus to my business so that I can begin drawing a full time income by December 31 – which is when my husband retires from his full time job (the navy).
While doing this, my other resolution is to get my house completely up to marketable standards, on the market and sold before November 30th of this year.
My personal resolutions – to make more time for friends and family – at least 2 days a month of dedicated time to just hanging out.
Can't wait to see everyone's resolutions!
Bella Baths says
I resolve to get my company organized and headed in a direction that will help me quit my "day job" by the end of 2011 and go visit my two boys (20 & 23)…I miss them.
Suji says
Looking forward to reading everyone's comments on this topic – always inspirational!
Here are my goals for the new year! In 2010, I will go back to school to build a foundation to strengthen what I have been intuitively doing everyday. I will not be too busy to enjoy the beautiful city I live in and make the time to run mountain trails with my dogs three mornings a week. Also, I resolved to include a special date night with my partner at least four times a month… and send more hand-written thank yous!
