    1. This oil should last about a year or so! The shelf life is based on the oils added. The jojoba oil has an indefinite shelf life and sweet almond oil lasts about a year, making that shelf life a year. 🙂

  1. Hello

I’ve tried a similar forumla with argain oil as my carrier and essential oils to give it a nice scent, but after a month or so the smell had disappeared. Any tips on retaining it better, maybe adding a fixative to thr formula? Thx!

    1. Hi Alexandre!

In our tests and recipes, we’ve found those essential oils tend to stick fairly well in oil-based recipes! How are you storing that beard oil? Also, how much did you add to your recipe? We’ve found the best way to store it is in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. That way that scent should stay nice and strong.

Let me know and we’ll get this figured out. 🙂

  2. We are considering adding beard oil and bathbombs to our line. Do you know what additional requirements these require? Currently we sell soap. Thanks so much

    1. Hi Chris!

That sounds like such a fun product addition! Definitely a big hit with the beard and bath crowd. 🙂

When it comes to labeling, the products will be the same as soap! You’ll want to list all the ingredients you used from most used to least used, and include information on the label like how much it weighs and who made it. 3. I found someone selling bulk massage oil and I was wondering if you thought it would work for a beard oil base and then I would just add the scents in. The ingredients are: Mineral Oil, Sunflower Oil, Safflower Oil, Caprylic Capric Triglyceride, Sesame Seed Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Olive Oil, Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate), Vitamin A (Retinyl Palimitate). Do you foresee a problem with any of these oils-like clogging pores or overly greasy or anything like that? Thanks so much!

    1. Hi Jessica!

That looks like a nice formula for beard oil! It has some great moisturizing oils, like jojoba and olive oil. The best way to know for sure is to have someone test it! They can tell you if it feels heavy or greasy. 🙂

  4. What about using Buckthorn Berry CO2 vs the extract? (Only cuz I have the cO2 on hand vs the extract lol). I makeup awesome facial oil with buckthorn berry, calendula and rosehip co2s. Just wondering what difference the extract make. Thanks!!

    1. Hi Carrie!

We didn’t try that product in this recipe, but I believe it would be OK! Making a small test batch may be helpful. 🙂

    1. Hi Ray!

That’s awesome, I’m glad to hear that! Have fun making another batch. 🙂

  5. Hi, I really wanted to try making this but I don’t want to wait to get the few things in. Can the Buckthorn Extract be substituted with anything?

    1. Hi Michele!

Absolutely, this recipe is definitely customizable! There are a lot of great extracts you can add like avocado extract, which is very moisturizing. Just add the same amount as you would the buckthorn. You can also leave the extract out if you like. 🙂

  6. I just made this using the Cold Water FO – it smells amazing! It’s a Christmas present for my sister-in-law’s boyfriend, and I can’t wait to give it to him. I think he’s going to love it!

  7. I made this tonight and it was so easy! Only change I made was to make a blend of 1/2 Mahogany and 1/2 Arabian Spice for the fragrance oil and it smells lovely!

    1. Hi Jenn!

So glad you liked it! I bet that blend smells amazing. 🙂

  8. Out of curiosity, why do you specify the heat safe glass container? You don’t seem to heat it at all, and pour it into plastic containers right away.

    1. Hi Gates!

Good catch! This recipe isn’t heated, so it doesn’t need to go in a heat-safe container. 🙂

  9. We’ve been considering trying to branch out from just soap, and this may be JUST the ticket. We may have to try a small run of this… we’ll have to think about what scent to try, though!

    1. Hi Gates!

I’m so glad you like it! Also, I think a lot of masculine scents would work well in this recipe. 🙂

  10. I would love to try and make this one. I have an order on the way with Spiced Mahogany fragrance oil. Will that work instead of the Mahogany fragrance oil?

    1. Hi Shara!

Absolutely! That fragrance oil would smell great in this recipe. 🙂

      -Kelsey with Bramble Berry

      1. Awesome and thanks. I was afraid maybe since it was spiced it might not work as well. I guess I will have to get busy now.
