Complex floral scents make excellent perfumes. When we smelled the new Modern Floral fragrance oils, we knew they would be perfect for body oils. They’re extremely easy to make – simply choose a lightweight liquid oil, mix in your fragrance, and transfer to a container.
For this recipe, we chose fractionated coconut oil. It’s extremely lightweight and thin so it works well in the Mini Spray Bottles. If you’d like to use a slightly heavier oil, we recommend using a roller ball container to avoid clogging.

To create a cohesive set that’s perfect for gift giving, free downloadable labels are available for the Mini Spray Bottles. Simply download the PDF and print them on label paper. There is a label for each scent: Wild Rose, Daisy Chain, Baby’s Breath, and Blushing Orchid. For a limited time, you can get all four Modern Floral fragrance oils for $15.50. Perfume and body oils are considered a leave-on product, which is not washed off after application. When fragrance oils are applied directly to the skin, they can cause irritation. That’s why it’s important to use a safe amount. One way to find out how much fragrance to use is to select “lotion” on the Bramble Berry Fragrance Calculator.
You may notice that usage rate is extremely small. That’s because the fragrance calculator errs on the side of extreme caution. To find the maximum usage rate for a fragrance oil for leave-on products, consult the IFRA Certificate. That can be requested by emailing MSDS (at) brambleberry (dot) com.
The IFRA usage rates for the oils used in this tutorial are listed below. This number refers to how much of the product can be made up of the fragrance oil. For example, Wild Rose Fragrance Oil can be used in your perfume up to 12%. Daisy Chain Fragrance Oil can be used up to 48%, but that doesn’t mean you have to use that much fragrance in your product.
The recipes below are formulated depending on how much of each perfume you’d like to make. If you’d like to make 10 bottles of only one fragrance, use the first recipe. If you’d like to make two sets of all four fragrances for a total of eight bottles, use the second recipe.
