Soothing Eye Tea DIY

Need a few minutes to relax and unwind? This Soothing Eye Tea is a great pick me up. The “tea” is made from a combination of chamomile herbcalendula petals and lavender buds. Once you’re ready to kick up your feet, boil some water and submerge the tea bags just like normal. “Brew” the tea for about a couple minutes and remove the tea bags. Place the tea bags into the fridge to completely cool, then place the cold tea bags on your eyes for a refreshing feel. You can also place the warm tea bags on closed eyes until fully cool. It all depends on what you prefer. =)

I like to make a large batch of these to have on hand whenever I need a little pick-me-up. They are especially nice during a bath, or before bed. The recipe below makes about eight tea bags, so feel free to size up the recipe as you’d like. You can also adjust the amounts of each herb as you see fit. This project is the perfect time to use a “Keep Calm and Make Soap” mug! =)

What You’ll Need:

FOUR: Use an iron on medium to high heat, and press the iron on the open seam to seal each bag.

Soothing Eye Tea DIYFIVE: Once you’re ready to use, boil a small pot of water. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly. Place the tea bags in the hot water for a couple minutes, remove and allow to cool slightly. You don’t want to put piping hot tea bags on your eyes! Once the tea bags are still hot but comfortable to touch, place the bags on closed eyes. Allow the bags to stay on your eyes until completely cool. Discard tea bag after use. Or, place the tea bag in the fridge to cool completely and place the cooled tea bags on your eyes for a refreshing feel.

NOTE: Because the Bramble Berry warehouse is not considered “food-safe” by the FDA, do not drink the tea once it’s been brewed. This project is for topical use only.

What is the shelf life of both the soothing eye teabags & lavender chamomile goat’s milk bath tea?

    1. This eye tea should last about a year! As for the Lavender and Chamomile Goat Milk Bath Tea, that has a shelf life of about two months because of the milk. To keep both recipes fresh, make sure to store them in a cool, dry place. 🙂
