As I’ve blogged about before (here and here), I’m not a huge fan of airbrushing for numerous reasons but mainly because of the unrealistic expectations it sets for society about beauty. My Dad found this over on the Komando.com web site. It’s a good example about what make up and Photoshop can do.

  2. The neck thing was definitely the freakiest thing for me to see.

    Ruth, your comment about little boys and men being very susceptible to this type of image manipulation is right on. *Real* women will never live up to their expectations if little boys grow up with a steady diet of doctored images of perfect women.

  3. Wow! I agree that the neck stretching was a shocker. And they enlarged and widened her eyes, too? I feel like I have to come back and watch this everyday for a while to realign my perceptions and remember not to believe everything I see in print. And watch it with my 11yo son. Boys and men are just as susceptible to these kinds of illusions. Thanks Anne-Marie!

  4. That was pretty fascinating, and sad at the same time. I remember reading somewhere that Cindy Crawford said something to the effect that “Cindy Crawford doesn’t wake up Cindy Crawford.” 😉
