Jamisen just had his first baby play date at book club with Mama this week. He also got to hang out with a dog which was fun for the dog and mildly puzzling for Jamisen.

As you can see from the photos, he really was quite unaware of the other baby (a girl none the less!) and basically ignored her the entire time.

Thankfully his Mama, Rachel, and I are good friends so we chatted the entire time as we watched our children drool and willfully ignore eachother. At one point, I was positive Eliza Rose was going to show her rolling skills and effectively show Jamisen who was boss but nah, she was just stretching.

Jamisen also got his first Jumparoo! He’s a little short for it to work out really well but he’s getting the hang of it. As you can see from the below video, we propped up a pillow underneath his feet and that helps him.

I hope that you’ve had a fantastic weekend with lots of family time. My Dad visited this weekend (my Mom is in Norway visiting her family) and he and my husband Chris have been doing manly man things like building trails and surveying raw land while Jamisen and I read, walked along the water and practiced his jumping skills on the Jumparoo.

  1. Awww…first playdate! How sweet! I think side-by-side play will last until the toddler years, but, hey, it looks like they were doing the head equivalent of the fist-pump. LOL!

  2. Oh my goodness. He is just so cute! Once he gets the hang of his Jumparoo, he is going to have so much fun and you are going to laugh and laugh. 🙂

    1. I can’t wait for that. He already makes me laugh so hard when I see him learning a new skill. He’s a doll but man, I wish he would sleep longer at night! He’s still doing his 2 hour stints …

      1. That seems like a lot of waking. Is he about 3 months now? Do you nurse him every time? If I remember correctly, my middle son woke just about every 3 hours until he was 5 or 6 months old. At which point, I had to let him cry it out so he’d stop waking for feedings he didn’t need at that point. It was hard, but it only took about a week. Jamisen may not be ready for that just yet, but it if you’re comfortable with the “cry it out” method, it might be something to ask your pediatrician about to see if he’s ready to give up a feeding…if you haven’t already asked. 🙂 Every mom is different in what she’s comfortable doing.

        1. It **is** a lot of waking. I’m convinced that he is associating the bottle/breastfeeding with sleep. The Dr has said “Yeah! He is big enough to cry it out” but Daddy (that softie) isn’t ready yet. So we’re just muscling it out.

But seriously, who wouldn’t want to cuddle with Mama at night? Especially since he misses me during the day (or does he? His nanny is amazing and even looks like him!) =)

I bought the Ferber book though and am 74 pages into it …

          1. I understand. I had to wait for my hubby to be out of town for a week to REALLY put the cry-it-out method to work. It is hard, there’s no denying that. I had to turn off the monitor and turn on a fan to drown out the crying. Then I’d listen after 15 minutes and if he was still crying, I’d go in, pat him without looking at him and leave. Some nights, it went on like that for over an hour. But it really only took about a week for him to get into a new sleep pattern. I always figured that if I woke up to eat in the middle of the night all the time, my stomach would start waking me up thinking it needed to eat when it didn’t. Hang in there! 🙂

          2. I threatened to do that to my husband for his next biz trip and he said he wouldn’t be happy with me if that happened so now he’s doing more of the night soothing than I am =) It’s working out better since he started sleeping less than me (go figure). =) I do love that you made it work though.
