In this episode, I show how to make your own eyeshadow and eyeliner from scratch using our Mineral Makeup kit. I think you’re going to be surprised at how easy it is. I also go over some of the most common mineral makeup ingredients and share two of my favorite recipes.

Here’s the recipe for the light brown eye shadow:

1/4 tsp Sericite
1/8 tsp Honeyed Beige Mica
1 mini scoop Patina Sheen Mica
1 mini scoop Cappuccino Mica
3 mini scoops Super Pearly White

And for the Dark Brown eyshadow that I used to make eyeliner:

1/4 tsp Sericite
1/8 tsp Honeyed Beige Mica
1 mini scoop Patina Sheen
7 mini scoops Cappuccino Mica
4 mini scoops Luster Black Mica

  1. Hi, I really like mineral makeup. I don’t want to put anything I don’t know on my face. Just wonder how long can the eye shallow last once it mix? What kind of preservative to in the eye shallow? is that safe to use on eye area?

    Thank you so much!!

    1. Hi Nicole!

In this Soap Queen TV episode, Anne-Marie doesn’t actually use a preservative as none is needed if you use the powder in dry form. If you are going to use it in the wet form, we’d suggest only wetting down enough of it for one use. Because it is in powder form, this eyeshadow recipe can be good up to a year or more! I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. =)

  2. How many eye shadows does this kit make? I know it comes with ten pots but I want to order more if I can make more. Has anyone used all the ingredients and figured out an approximate amount? I may want to do this for Christmas or other gifts and I just want to make sure I plan (and budget) accordingly. Thanks!

  3. I love the mineral makeup kit! I like to think that I’ve completely justified my soap hobby with the savings in making my own makeup. 🙂 It’s something I use every day of my life, and it’s so worth it to make my own v. buying commercial mineral makeup products for 7-10x the price.(I’ve done the math!)I’m constantly tweaking my recipes to get the foundation shade exactly right, but I’m pretty close.
I’ve just gotten into experimenting with eyeshadows, which will be so much fun for the holiday party season!

    1. The thought of making your own makeup seems difficult but it’s amazing how easy it really is once you dive in. I’m so glad your enjoying it. I LOVE my own personal eye shadow blends and I’m glad you’re having fun with it!

    1. The kit makes it so easy! I hope you give it a try. Your friends will be so impressed that you make your own eye shadow.

  4. Don’t forget at the very least your eyeshadows and eye products need a preservative. I don’t put them in my other products but for the eyes it’s pretty much manditory or else you will get eye infections.

    1. Since there’s no water in the product it’s not going to grown mold or bacteria. The eyeliner does have water in it but we recommend in the video that it be a one time use.

We’ve never added a preservative in our mineral makeup. If you do make sure that it’s eye safe =)
