If you’re tired of expensive store-bought skincare with ingredients you can’t pronounce, try handmade instead. You can create the perfect formula for your skin. Find inspiration below.

Cleansing is an essential part of a skincare routine. Get started with the Charcoal Facial Soap Kit – it comes with ingredients that help absorb excess oil and leave your skin feeling fresh. The Thyme and Witch Hazel Facial Bar by Jan with The Nerdy Farm Wife is another great option. It’s made with gentle and moisturizing oils like olive, sunflower, and tamanu. If you prefer melt and pour, check out the Cleansing Bars for Dry and Oily Skin.

If you’re looking for DIY clay masks, we’ve got you covered. They’re specifically formulated for certain skin types, so you can choose the one that works best for you.

Seaweed and Cucumber Mask

Exfoliation removes dead skin, makeup, and excess oil. The Volcanic Sand and Charcoal Facial Scrub is a gentle mix of kaolin clay, Natural Castile Liquid Soap Base, and Icelandic Black Sand. If you prefer dry scrubs, check out the Walnut Facial Scrub. It’s made with walnut shells and baking soda. The Cleansing Charcoal Facial Scrub is a more moisturizing option – it has hazelnut and tamanu oil.

Finish your routine with a DIY moisturizer. The Lavender and Aloe Lotion is made with sweet almond and rice bran oil, so it’s great for dry skin. For oily skin, try the Oil-Free Lavender Lotion. The DIY Rose Under-Eye Serum has jojoba and vitamin E oil to keep your skin hydrated. If you prefer a gel-like consistency, try the Argan and Ginseng Eye Serum.

  1. I started experimenting with “dry mask” clay mixes after trying out the Rhassoul Clay Mask featured in this tutorial: https://soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/rhassoul-clay-mask/ This one felt great with avocado or hemp seed oil when my skin was dry.
My FAVORITE mask is just a simple combination of French Green Clay and water. HOLY COW, the green clay is super-absorbing — it pulls out dirt and oil leaving my skin feeling super-clean.
Also, the Orange & Turmeric M&P soap has been great for my face! 🙂 https://soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/diy-turmeric-melt-pour-soap/ I used white M&P with a little bit of powdered goat milk. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Marianne! I am glad you loved that recipe and have gotten so much inspiration for creating dry masks from our other products.
